that would be cool. I need to take five to calm down, life is to short to put up with some things. By the way, cool vid on the discovery of the wrecks from that RV Petrel ship. B)

That's really unfortunate to hear :( Hopefully next month I can finally get my basic "how to springsharp" video up which should cover some of this :)

I never knew how much I don't know about seagoing ships before looking at spring sharp, I am truly out of my element here. clearly, I will not figure this out in time for "this competition". I never intended to be an annoyance to a particular forum with my "question spamming", and my interest in babysitting elitist children has long since expired. maybe others can benefit from my unanswered questions as I no longer trust some to not give deceitful answers when not condescendingly ignoring questions. In spring sharp, if you have an idea of the target ship length, ('V' hull, straight side, tumblehome) beam/width and weight of the ship, is there a general rule of thumb for what the drafty should be? Why does adding more prop shafts not add weight, is that just an arbitrary number in spring sharp that does nothing? What is 'Natural Speed" for, if cruising and max speed must be significantly lower to not have the ship just fall apart? Out of the dropdown options for gun types (in Springsharp 3b3), is breech-loading or quick-fire or another option appropriate for a 1904 design, and likewise what Type of Mount is appropriate for a 1904 design? I'm 'guessing' in the new spring sharp 3b3 version, most 1904 ships were ram bows with a round stern, on the 'Freeboard' tab, after considerable google searching the era? Oddly the v2.1 manual lists Diesel motors as viable for 1904, and 1898 for Oil fire boilers, however, I thought most warships had been coal-fired up to around WW2 era. As for that click, leave them be, they don't want outsiders in their little private channel any more than I want to put up with their insults. There are probably other SpringSharp forums around that are not so vial toward novices and people that have never looked at SpringSharp before. I need to take a break from this, because all I can think about when I look at spring sharp, is the barrage of belittling I got the past few days for not "just knowing the answer already".

Always had a soft spot for Henry Thanks-Be-to-God ever since I first read about it way back in the last century. In any case, hats off to both Drach as well as the people asking questions. This was one of the best selection of questions – and answers – yet! Thanks!

ok, thanks, and I was on an old version. still learning what is what.

Leave the box blank and complex reciprocating :)

Drachinifel

ok, n00b Q. did they even have a "transom stern" in 1904, or should I leave that check box blank in Spring-shop? is "simple reciprocating" or "complex reciprocating" triple expansion for Spring-shop?

Alrighty, 2AM PST in Canada. Good enough time as any to dive in here.
