Patreon User Poll
Added 2019-10-12 15:12:28 +0000 UTCHello everyone, I've had a few ideas either pop into my head or be suggested to me, so I thought I should run them past you first as you would be the primary affected group.
Idea 1: A 1-person Patreon Tier at a much higher level (e.g. $50, please feel free to suggest amount) which would give that person the reward of directly choosing a ship for 5-minute guide review (within the limits of what the channel covers). The person would enter that tier and nominate their ship, at the end of the month once the payment has cleared, I make the video the following month and they leave the tier open for the someone else to take up.
Idea 2: Monthly Patreon-only giveaways/draws
Idea 3: Early access for Patrons to new merch as/when I make it
Let me know what you think and of course please comment if you have more to add or additional ideas :)

Hello, I really enjoy your channel and especially your commentary style. Therefore, I would like to support your work by moving up the ladder of patrons but as the tiers are in USD the exchange rate makes the levels much more expensive. So, would it be possible to add some more levels,. eg. Deck Hand at USD$2 per month? In this way appreciative viewers like myself can increase our financial support for not only one channel but more?

2019-10-27 07:33:46 +0000 UTCOkay, I voted. To the first idea, there are patreons that have pretty much as much money as they want to throw at you- As much as I think it would be a really awesome thing to do, I can also see how quickly you would be overwhelmed by the demand. Think about it- two dozen or so patreons demanding specific ships to be done in four weeks. The numbers simply don't work out unless you expand the channel and add staff. If a goal is to increase patreon subscriptions, I think Idea #2 is the best option. Being a youtuber that makes videos myself, I know it's a lot easier to grab something off the shelf and 'raffle' it off than it is to create original content. To the third idea, I find in unnecessary. Patreons don't need special privileges to spend money. If you have new merch and simply post it, the Patreons will just do what they do. -Bill

2019-10-20 14:17:56 +0000 UTCI don't think I would spend the $50 to pick a ship, but if others want to I would be happy to see Drachinifel's channel get the support. More $ will yield more to spend on research or more interesting trips to report on.
2019-10-20 01:57:12 +0000 UTCI have no opinions on any of the above, but would like to point out that I wasn't actually aware Drach merchandises existed. improving visibility on this front may be a good idea.

2019-10-18 14:03:43 +0000 UTCWhile I appreciate the ideas, I agree with some above post about possible issues with #1 (availability of requested info, time to actually make, etc...). I prefer to support Drach because I enjoy the content (and snarky commentarys)
2019-10-15 20:49:10 +0000 UTCI agree with your idea, but if I am going to spend $50+ to request a special I want to choose my own, not only one from the list.
2019-10-13 20:39:14 +0000 UTCno opinion on any of the above. I subscribe because I like what is delivered rather than look for the ability to direct particular ideas though I do like the voting to help provide guidance.

2019-10-13 01:32:01 +0000 UTCI really like #1, but what about two tiers instead of one? One lower one for 5 minute guides and a higher one and they can pick a special? Maybe limit the special to the one from the existing list.

2019-10-12 22:55:24 +0000 UTCI'm all in favor of Drach getting all the money the market will bear. But tier 1 sounds like it might be a bit of a trial to manage. Edit - But cash is good. I'm not sure I'd pay $50 for a 5 minute guide on the Mersey Class. But I might.

2019-10-12 22:16:08 +0000 UTC#3, I don't think early access merch is all that good, for Drach's coffee/tea fund. It will inherently limit who can buy the stuff that wants it. It becomes a balancing act of how long do Patreons get exclusive access before the 'new' factor wears off and non-Patreons are no longer interested.

2019-10-12 21:14:08 +0000 UTCThe first relies on the info being available to Drach in a timely manner with no delays (books shipped via snail mail from Mars would be a major prob, lol), and relies on enough free time for Drach to make the content. I foresee problems for topics with limited sources to non-existent info on as well. Drach would at least need veto power, and a contingency topic at the min.

2019-10-12 21:05:02 +0000 UTCI agree--I dont really care about choosing the ship. Half the fun about the ships is learning about obscure ships that I dont know that much about. I would much rather have two opportunities to ask questions in the drydock.
2019-10-12 20:13:48 +0000 UTC#1 I don't agree with because it would technically rely on the Patreon voluntarily relinquish his position and then be quickly filled by another. I just think it would be awkward to run. I would simply allow the Patron to ask a 2nd question per month for the Drydock. Ideas #2-3 are great.
