Question for drydock- it seems the japanese plan to bomb Pearl Harbor was one of playing long odds vs no other viable options to win against the USA in a war. Can you think of any strategy the Japanese could have had that would have allowed them to win or even just basically fight to a draw against the USA and maintain some if not all of their empire? It seems the only real option they had was not to fight in the first place and hope to work out a diplomatic solution.
