Anti Slavery Patrols - Pateron Special

Hello to you patrons, as you will have seen the regular Wednesday special is up, but this is one that was requested by a Patron so I'm also putting this up. I would appreciate your feedback on it before I release it 'into the wild', as it is of course on a sensitive subject, so let me know what you think of it.

Also, as I covered the patrols started small, so early on a certain number of slavers could run the gauntlet, gradually getting fewer as more and better ships came onto the patrols.

The US Constitution banned the slave trade after 1807. Further, the slaves already in the United States were able to grow population just like any other group of people. It was not necessary to import new slaves from Africa or the Caribbean.

Amazing video, but I do have one question; if the Americans knew that the slave trade had effectively been shut down by the Royal Navy, why was there still a civil war over it if they couldn’t “replenish lost product”, or obtain new slaves to replace those who died?

Great video and an important topic. I don't think anyone could possibly be offended at anything you said. At least not within reason, there will always be lunatics around.

BTW, I knew hardly anything about this. In the USA, there was a conscious effort by groups in the South during the 20s-early 70s to cover this stuff up. They were quite successful. As a result, it was not in the text books or even college circulum when I went to school. I think it would be important that you release this. Meanwhile, I'm adding some new books to my reading list.

Thanks. That was really a remarkable video.

It was a photo of slaves on the deck of an RN warship after they were freed from a slave ship. :)

I knew hardly any of that. Thanks. That's an important video. I'm going to listen to it again on my way to work. Was that a daguerreotype or photograph of a slave ship?

Paul from Chicago

Absolutely spot on as always. Just the facts, so one would think nobody should be offended. Excellent post. Thank you sir.
