The main quest right now is finding the traitor, and recover the missing armour. Lavender is not even the main villain of this season, he's just someone hired to erase evidence (assuming the traitor and Lavender are not one and the same), and taking down the AI is... really just one minor step. But it is still important from another perspective, rogue AIs are bad, and once they knew about it, they could not ignore it, it had to go even if it benefits Lavender.

I really like the Crusade (and her detective work is what sold me into this fic to start) so I hope she doesn't leave for good but yeah Shiro doesn't do well with a 9 to 5. Also the character on the Crusade side are my favorites! Ligh, Hope, Dev even Joshua has potential. Looking forward to the delicious drama of it all π

2026-02-14 05:13:07 +0000 UTCI feel like shutting down the AI isnt the climax of this set piece? They didnt know and dont really care about the AI, it seems to benefit Lavender more than them. A side quest given by an enemy, mid main quest. The AI was fucking up Lav's control of the facility, which...they approve of. Unless that drive is literally all the information they could possible get (which i dont think they could know), they sorta let Lavender get away, right? Plugging in the pyramid would have allowed Luna to better combat Lavender in e-space, at the very least.

I'll admit I have been impatient for her trust issues to be less self-destructively absolute. She has too many people around her who trust and care for her to maintain this self-imposed isolation so fanatically. I'm glad she didn't wuss out of confessing to Hope, but also disappointed she only gave her real name and not anything else. Your name? That's it? Really? That's like, the least important thing about you...

2026-02-14 04:13:45 +0000 UTCI think the most likely is she quits but becomes a contractor and supplier for them. Basically take her current role and make it official while starting to sell to them. Becoming a full time squire is impossible with her other projects. Stopping entirely is unlikely and would fell weird for this story, keeping the status quo would fell odd at this point.

2026-02-14 03:28:57 +0000 UTCSo many ways to run this. Scenario 1 - Shiro keeps Zuku active as a squire both for positive karma and awesome intel. Scenario 2 β Shiro becomes the squire, positive karma and intel are kept, but loses plausible deniability. Scenario 3 β Shiro quits. Boring!
