2026-01-24 12:13:40 +0000 UTCI imagine doctor-patient confidentiality would work by you agreeing to not give your information to any other company (in the same field, at least), while giving the company behind the doc full rights to handle your information. And I agree Mira's reaction was the stranger one against the kids under the circumstances, especially since she was raised by a soldier.

2026-01-24 09:36:52 +0000 UTCI think it’s just third person? That entire chunk of Mira’s perspective is third person. Using a person’s name in third person isn’t weird, is it? She’s not thinking of herself form the third person, but the story is written in the third person. Tis the wrong tense though.

2026-01-24 08:47:03 +0000 UTCAlright so on the one hand, Shiro is gonna internally reflect on what was covered in the counseling session; shes gonna think things like "the doc said to acknowledge the fear and let it pass, without letting it control me". So we may be alright not seeing the actual session, we'll get the gist second hand. On the other hand, it may be nice having an actual character and actual scenes to staple Shiro's changes to. Mostly tho, im curious how doctor/patient confidentiality works in a cyberpunk corporate future. Actually, the entire practice of therapy seems like something that would have been perverted by the capitalist problems inherent in most of these settings. Plus like...i really feel like Shiro is more "normal" than Mira. Mira to me seems like a golden spoon kid slumming it, with her important and well connected father, and her general positivity wouldnt be a common outlook. I was just reading a chapter of Neon Dragons, and "desperation" was just identified as a defining characteristic of cyberpunk. Desperate to survive, desperate to have enough, desperate for strength and agency and money and freedom. Anywho, that last bit of rambling brought to you by me being annoyed that this mostly started because Shiro was willing to shoot those murderous children in a war zone. That to me is the precipitating event that caused Mira to get Shiro counseling, and i think Mira is the odd one. I dont think Mira is wrong that Shiro is clinging with bloody fingernails to the ragged edge, it just seems like the whole society lives on that same ragged edge with her.

2026-01-24 07:55:09 +0000 UTC”Are we there yet?” Mira asks. -> "she", unless this is some aspect of the halo, making Mira think of herself in the third person. I dont think thats been established, but there could be a rationale behind it.

2026-01-24 07:40:57 +0000 UTCI'd prefer we skip them, maybe like an introduction or something and snippets. Maybe short one paragraph flash backs occasionally here and there in later chapters. It's just these kind of sessions are incredibly hard to get right and everyone has a different opinion of what is right. So in all likelihood it'd feel off or take a lot of time/research to write. If you want a challenge though go for it.

2026-01-24 00:30:03 +0000 UTCDef think skipping the session(s) and seeing how Shiro reacts and changes in her daily life is a more meaningful way to go…

2026-01-24 00:23:48 +0000 UTCI hope both can overcome their issues and get better. Otherwise they are destined to crash and burn, which would be a shame for their future plans.
