Before I start a new model I collect a series of theme-appropriate images, usually from pinterest and/or artstation to get a feel for the direction of the designs. Unfortunately it's actually getting more difficult to find images that aren't AI generated, and I think a few of the ones in this board are - there's just so many, they're completely overpopulating Pinterest.
I've seen other creators using concept art either they make themselves or pay an illustrator, but since I can't draw at all, I just jump straight into zbrush.
This month's theme is the Greek Goddess Demeter.
She is knows as a goddess of agriculture, fertility, and the harvest and is the mother of Persephone.
Demeter was worshiped throughout Greece and was considered a benevolent and nurtering figure, particularly in her role as the provider of agriculture abundance.
She's typically depicted as a mature, regal woman and was often portrayed with a dignified and maternal demeanour with a crown/wreath upon her head, and is usually holding sheaves of wheat or barley. She's also sometimes depicted holding a torch instead of barley, and this is intended to symbolise her search for her daughter Persephone after her abduction by Hades.
