This may have been ret-conned in recent years, (don't know much about the recent comics) but originally The Red Guardian was Natasha's husband, that she thought was dead, and had no idea he'd been trained to become Russia's counterpart to Cap.

The action scenes were a bit contrived, but the acting was great, I thought. Florence Pugh is SUCH a talented actress. I'm hoping you watch the Hawkeye Series on Disney+ sometime soon. It's also got great acting in it.
