2024-06-10 03:50:21 +0000 UTCYay! V For Vendetta! I've been waiting for this reaction for a long time! Definitely in my top 5 movies of all time, and I was sure that you would love it. You may want to watch it again on your own time to pick up some things that you may have missed on this initial viewing. It took me several times to see how connected everything was and how it all flowed together so perfectly. It was great to see Meli again! Wow, that clip you showed of her shows how talented she is. Very impressive. And I agree with Jorge that if/when you do another reaction with Meli, a comedy would be great. DC comics has a "mature readers" imprint, called Vertigo, and they publish more serious storylines with adult themes. No superheroes, really. And the titles are all pretty separate. No connection with each other. Just like with this movie, you'll never see it connect in any way with any other DC movie. It's its own thing. So Guy Fawkes was a real person, and the 1605 "Gunpowder Plot" happened (or almost happened) just as the movie described. November 5th is widely known as "Guy Fawkes Day" in England. There's of course a lot of info you can find online if you want to learn more about it. During the sequence where Detective Finch is explaining that he felt like he could see things that were going to happen, they show several snippets of scenes that hadn't happened yet like Evey looking at the train full of explosives, and V getting shot dozens of times in the alley. One quick clip they show is of Evey and Finch together in some type of home setting. Some people think is to show that the two of them end up with each other. Yup, at the very end, with all those people unmasking themselves, you can see many "dead" innocent characters like Evey's parents, Valerie, Ruth, Gordon, the little girl, and others that were glimpsed in flashbacks. Some viewers get confused by that, but it's basically to show V was "the people", even the ones who were no longer with us. Again, I'm so happy that you got to experience this movie, Cristy! Loved your reaction and I'm already looking forward to watching more great movies with you. π
