While 2023 was almost very clear winner from episode 1, 2024 is about surprises and 'upsets'. Maybe a good video idea to explore winners in 2023 and compare/contrast with winners in 2024? Very few exceptions to the overall tendencies.

So it really made a season that had very little stakes feel even more pointless)

Didn’t even make it to the finale 🥹 As a season in general, DR España S3 was by far my biggest let down. Especially the questionable judgement of Clover Bish, bringing back Kelly “the literal” roller, and Bestiah not making it to the finale. They couldn’t avoid the S3 curse. From the judging to the storyline, it was just a huge mangled mess! (Right in front of RDR DU S1) When it comes to production, the fact that Marina Summers lost the crown in a lip sync battle tournament was confusingly upsetting. Made no sense as to how they navigated the season. Riggamorris! The season felt fabricated at the last episode. Others that live rent free in my head… -Never knowing who won the lip sync between Sharon & Phi phi -Whose name was on Bebe’s lipstick!? -How did Mimi get to #3 on the polls? We could not believe it -Perez Hilton leaking S3 winner -Adore quitting AllStars 2 -Katya not winning (or even being in the finale) S7 -“Do I have something on my face?” -All stars 1 teams format, only to just have one winner -S8 only being 10 episodes -“I’d like to keep it on please” -Ben de la Christ -I love Roxxxy, but she went too far on All Stars 2. Tatiana & Alyssa were better suited for that finale imo -The Sherry Pie edit -S13 useless/mindfu*ing Porkchop lounge -“It’s chocolate” -Kornbread leaving S14 -Super short episodes on S15 for the first half. It prevented us from getting to know the queens better -CDR S1 judging (they’ve come a long way) -Valentina leaving DR MX -Plastique earning the least for her charity, even though she was tied with the most challenge wins and had one of the best, is not the best, runway package on All stars S9. My poor baby girl. -UKvsW S1, Jujubee runway looks + Jimbo & Pangina eliminations -All Stars 3 jury twist -Upsetting that Untucked isn’t what it used to be. I feel it lost its raw emotions

For the category "upset eliminations": Tatianna, Dela, Shangela, Aja, Manila, Alexis, TKB, Jessica (because why a top 2 for the finale episode?) come to mind. For the category "upset because they are still there" Roxxxy (AS2), Blair, Eureka come to mind. For "upset they didn't win" Roxxxy (AS10), Monèt (After she cleared the lipsync), Shea (Although Sasha cleared that lipsync, but still), Brooklyn, Gigi (although I love Jaida as well) and Sapphira (although I love Nymphia) come to mind For the category "upset because the challenge is bad or the queens did bad" almost all of the acting challenges and some marketing or room design ones come to mind like Shakesqueer, Draglexa or the hotel and bathroom thing. For the category "upset because of judges critiques or guest judges being there" things like going hard on Aja for her look in AS3 and orher unfair treated people like charity case or so come to mind. For the category "upset: Queens not playing specific roles in stuff": Nina as Black Chyna comes to mind 💁🏾♂️😜

Canada Drag Race S1 judging. The Venus push on Canada 4 - disregard of Aurora. Drag Sethlas push on All Stars Espana - clear winner imo. Elektra and Le Felip winning with no main wins. Clover Bish judging. Jimbo/Pangina Vs The World eliminations. Sherry Pie.

(I know this likely happened for numbers reasons because of the earlier unplanned double elim/disqualification, but the fact that both queens were just selected by production was wild).

Nymphia is a great queen but she wasn’t a main character for the majority of the season. Sapphira was the total package. It was weird that it seems the fandom chooses when track record matters and when it doesn’t. Love Nymphia and she’s a great winner but Sapphira is unmatched on so many levels.

The misjudgement of Elektra shock on down under 1 literally sny of the 3 of her bottom 2 placements all season. Ep1 - did we see coco jumbos runway looks? Ep3- "as the team leader you was too strong of a dancer in your verse that it outshined the other queens behind you" Ep7- " you are legit 1 of the only ones left in the competiton that acctually has Talent but we like both Art and Karen more than we like you so get lipsyncing perra"

Nobody expected her to come into the finale and do *that* I’d also say the S14 & S15 lalaparuzas because most people would expect Jasmine and Jax to easily make it through. On the flip side, I’d also call Megami slaying the S16 lalaparuza an upset. Going into it, everyone was talking about Morphene, Mirage, Mhi’ya.. but Megami really came in there and proved to the girls that she shouldn’t be underestimated

I think it was unfair, and equally I believe if she was more present in the edit, or better received by the fan base it would’ve been a bigger upset to the community. Equally Shea Coulee was my winner pick all season long, right until those rose petals fell. It wasn’t shocking in the sense that I agreed with Sasha winning the lipsync, but overall it was shocking that Shea lost the season after her performance. Nobody who won 4 challenges before hand lost a finale, the best track record had prevailed for the past 7 seasons. If anyone thought Shea wasn’t winning before the finale was filmed, then I’d be hesitant to believe them.

Paired by the predictability of 15,14, and 13 (I’d say 12 but people drag that one) I was positive Sapphira was winning. I was actually shocked when Nymphia won. the edit, the competition, the finale number, the general fan support in the communities I’m in.

In a better world, Elektra doesn't end up in the bottom....for 1. doing well in the girl group. 2. dancing well compared to really awful or underwhelming talents. There is also everything else. Keta Mean winning was the only possibility and that likely wouldn't have happened if the producers weren't listening. The same can be said for Italia 1 and France 3 with winners of the season who never won a challenge.
