could see the slime possibly as possesses more hosts might develop further such as getting more intelligent possibly started of as a semi normal slime just one or two unique traits that led to this situation and after it took control of one or two humanoid hosts started to get smarter and likely start developing more abilities as it develops its abilities and maybe takes traits from hosts or similar idea
