The Boogies Game Over #1

UPDATE: Now a three part sequence.  So you can see the full consequences of your mistakes.

Previous

'You decided to try to push the button on the opposite wall.  You' weren't used to moving quickly without your suit .  The booby flew out of its alcove and intercepted you.  As you tried to muscle by it it burst on contact.

The being's makeup seemed designed to stick to bare flesh.  First it covered your head and blinded you.  As you tried to take it off, the rest targeted your limbs making you fall to the ground.  Strangely your thoughts started to contradict and muddle.  You couldn't remember which way the wall was much less find the button.

You fumbled fruitlessly until something else entered the room and completed the transformation.'

You have lost one life.  You will be continuing from where you made your first mistake.

Honestly I'd much prefer seeing the game overs after the adventure is over, not early on, mainly because i want to see more of the environment

Well... It's a wonderful thing to hope for, seeing all the ways this lovely vixen can have a Game Over, so I'll cross my fingers and hold out hope. And if it's too much, again, it's something nice to think of.

PyroJack24

You know, I recall now that the reason we should have gambled the locker is because, in the past, we got confirmation Boogies have horrible eyesight. They're like snakes, they react to audio and vibrations; racing for the button meant we got closer, and it was able to see us. And this might not have been the case of what the slip that said "Press Red to not be Wed" was referring to. That might come into play, later in the mission.

PyroJack24

Yes, you'll proceed as if you chose to hide in the locker. No point in a revote if you already know the right answer.

ozone

By "continuing from when you made your first mistake," you mean we're proceeding as if she hid in the locker (but with one less 'life'), right? Or will we need to hold a re-vote?

Noir

Yeah but I honestly wonder how many are even trying to win... I know there's some people there aiming for the bad end because 'Hurrr boogy girls!' I remember you saying you'd do the other 'game overs' we missed so the 'bad-end humpers' would get what they want anyway.

Ryan Drakel

I wish she can retain her old hairstyle and ears after been turned into a boogie though.

a62443166

You were a voice of reason.

ozone

*Sigh* Oh well.... 6 more tries. Let's try this again shall we?

Ryan Drakel

Oddly enough we didnt reach the button, we collided into a bomb, plus we werent fast enough.

*MISSION FAILED* Don't you know big red buttons are never good things?

supercomputer276

Well thats cool to know, although im not sure if "text based" is the correct word/term im looking for- Now i remember! Visual Novel was what I was thinking of... I do recall "playing" a visual novel made in Ren'py but not really sure as to how that stuff works.

I'm going to consider drawing out all the game-overs you guys missed to make it so this adventure can be replayed or played by people who find it later. But we'll see, it could indeed be just too much to do.

ozone

This does make me sorta wish this was a text-based CYOA game or something, but im pretty sure that would be an absolute hell in having to draw loads of characters, backgrounds, do writing, etc... etc... But would be wonderful to ogle at the artwork & to experience all the different paths. EDIT: Also one more thing to those who are trying to attempt to get game overs or steer it in that direction, we will probably encounter others we might need to sacrifice to progress, so we can save lives, that and also potentially see what could have been our fate or something via the people we find/have to sacrifice, as mentioned in the briefing, what we do will be pretty much questionable and all that is expected of us is to return back with information and with our suit intact. So that is just my mere recommendation, the recommendation being we can just use others to see their transformations rather than throw ourselves at it.

Well that was unfortunate, atleast the game over looks good!

ZeeKusa

I did say, not getting wed might mean not living long enough to see a dude again

AmarthTheRiolu

Which is why we keep it patreon-ony, aside from my own benefit. Subs have a $4 ante on the line.

ozone

tbh, I didnt think ahead, that and we may or may not have dodged a bullet with whatever came into the room to finish the transformation. However one thing for certain is that we know that weird drone is the equivalent to a Sentient Sea Mine.

Note to selves: We suck without the suit, can't even get one quicktime event

Alchemical Scientist

Mittens' a good look on her~ Thanks Ozone for the pieces! (I would say the mission's a great success, in one way or another, *wink*) Wonder how many more 'mission successes' there are!

Romanov Sharansky

That's unfortunately what happens when decisions are crowd sourced and some want to see the bad end or don't care.

Issus

Yup, hot

pokelolo99

Very true.

ozone

I know it's bad we lost a life and all, but... you gotta admit, that loss does look kinda hot.

Xenomata

As a slight note, so it seems the thing blew up, but also at the same time either something was already intending to enter the room or when the thing detonated, it sent off a signal, but as to what? One of the few things we know which can convert others into Boogies are the big worm things, which are stealthy, and other Boogie Drones if they have the goop provided (as seen in the first CYOA when that servant boogie held the Lopunny in place). So we possibly made a good choice by not running out immediately. However it seems that the red sticky note turned out to be a ploy by the boogie's themselves, either that or its because we werent fast enough. !!!What we know now is!!!: Booby's are the equivalent to Sea Mines, they hover about and require contact with an individual before detonating. The goop has a mind of its own, so it can trap a victim's limbs before they could get a chance to escape, so very strong "sentient" adhesive. And something was either summoned to enter the room, or something was already on its way to the room. EDIT: And anything that seems like perfect handwriting might be a ploy set up by the Boogie's. We probably should have expected something more along the lines of chicken scratch or hurried writing. Plus tied to the edit, WE must note that THIS is an "Alien" Facility, so English may not be their language, while at the same time, they could potentially use newly acquired Boogie Drones to write down said note after they attempted to do it the first time. We also are not as quick & agile as lead to believe without the suit. Also this new drone type seems to have mimic a metallic like sheen, no doubt to fool someone who thinks it could just simply be shoved aside like a soda can (either that or it was lighting), so this could possibly mean that Boogie Goop can mimic specific materials as an advantage to blend or as a way to deceive those who perceive it. So far, the drones/"pure forms" we know about are: "Booby" - A drone that intentionally gets in your way to collide with you and itself explode into Boogie Goo (since we were in a hurry, we learned this the hard way). Boogie "Worm" - A big stealthy worm that swallows its prey and converts them (in the Krystal Art Piece). Boogie Drone - A victim who has been converted into a drone, which then allows them to learn what they knew (which can potentially screw us over if we or the person in question decides to sacrifice themselves), can subdue others but must sacrifice their matter in order to do so (as seen in the CYOA with the Wolf Monster Servant subduing Lopunny) Boogie "Wall" - Those weird tubes holding all those crew members in place in the other Krystal art piece. Boogie "Water" - Might be a layer of boogie goo which hides deep within water, what we saw in the Renamon Pic

That and the handwriting was very clean, so perhaps a sign of illwill

So the sticky note on the locker was a red herring. Any clues we find here on out aren't going to be any real help since we'll have no idea which to trust, which will just make them rather useless.

Ve

Y'all forgot how important the suit was and ran directly into obvious danger. Wow.

Nicole Vulpara

Called it, haha well guess we gotta be more logical

Dotzrus

Also to potentially not trust "clues" given as a background detail

Can't say I'm surprised this happened. Everyone was debating in the comments about what to do for the previous choice. This in mind, this means that proximity to Boogies is dangerous.
