This week we're looking at the B section from Back in Town. This demonstrates one of my favourite ideas for rhythm work - playing a conventional chord shapes, but having a static open string that rings out across all of them. In this case that's the high E string, and in each different chord it functions as a cool extension, giving us all kinds of mature and sophisticated sounds.
The effects I use to give it that nostalgic 80s feel are chorus, delay, and reverb.
