Added 2020-05-14 16:53:33 +0000 UTCHere's an 'oldie but a goodie' as they say. This riff was written by Meouch and I years ago on a balcony in Manhattan. For some of us it was our first time in the city, so it felt the need to write this goofy song. Oh, the memories!

Pro Tips:
Barre chords are essential here. The shape you need to familiarize yourself with is this:

The 5th fret is played with your 1st finger, and your 3rd finger barres the 7th.
Now see if you can add your pinky onto the 2nd string 8th fret, like this:

These two chords move up 2 frets in measures 3 and 4. That's pretty much all your left hand needs to do.
The right hand does this classic 80s rock move where in between every chord hit, you palm mute and pick the open 6th string a few times. It's just chugging along and hanging out.
Theory Talk:
The chords are:
Dmaj - Dsus4 - Dmaj (x2)
Emaj/F# - Esus4 - Emaj/A (x2)
The slash chords with the F# and A are there because those are the notes Meouch plays. These very choice bass notes add some extra depth the mood.
I mentioned above that the guitar keeps chugging along on the low E string. In music theory this is sometimes called a 'pedal point', meaning it is a constant note that keeps happening regardless of what chord is playing above it - very rude!
