A man accidentally bumps into you at the marketplace, dropping his notes. Shocked, he flees into the crowd. When you pick them up, they’re stained with blood.  

You can make out “experiments…. have failed…. It wants more, more than I can give…. she will die if I don’t…. the butchers don’t have enough left to sell me, not even all of them in the city, though Joran cites me as his best customer…. animals were never as effective…. she cries with hunger” Then there are some liter measurements, seeming to require more and more liquids with reduced “output”.

The last note reads “If only I could contact whoever created it originally…. But we were lucky to stumble into the workshop as it is”.  You learn of the man’s location from the butcher, who claims the Professor was never the same after his wife died. ‘It was a strange ailment, his family had. His daughter was ill with it, too.’

The home is empty, but there is a hidden stairway in the consultancy. It stinks of blood and off meat, ending in a large, underground workshop. Within, you find a 13 year old girl kneeling over the man from the market, weeping.  

When she notices you, she turns around, her blood-covered face streaked with tears...

What’s Happening? After his wife died from a weak heart, the Professor discovered his daughter suffered the same condition. One fateful night he stumbled into a hidden workshop beneath his house. Reading the notes within, he discovered the crimson machine could lead to “ascension to immortality”. The only requirement was blood.  

Feeding his own into the machine, he used the transfusion to successfully cure his daughter. Only, the effects wore off and she needed more. Soon, even animal blood didn’t work. By then his daughter had come to crave the transfusions, and, tortured by her pleas of insatiable hunger, he kidnapped and killed three people. Horrified by what he had done, he refused to do it again, not realizing that he had turned his daughter into a vampire.
