YES I knew you'd like the Coldplay musical. The Ramsay and Theon part was so genius, also Kit and Rose are both so charismatic and good looking it ain't fair.

TMI if you're ever bored and curious [no show spoilers, only very minor book 1-5 spoilers; you're safe as long as you don't wanna read the books and even then you're still quite safe]; strictly speaking there is no ONE point at which "the show is just the show now and not the books". Even putting aside book stuff that isn't in the show, the show deviated from the books from the beginning (though as I hear it s1 was reasonably close allowing for how much got cut), not just in terms of whole cloth major changes but also in terms of timelines; some things happen in both the show and the books but at very different times; Not to mention small tweaks throughout. So with those factors coming together, the show had reached certain plot lines from the latest book [book 5] I think as early as season 4, and other things that happened in the books still hadn't happened by the end of s6. So, yes, as I hear it [did not read the books, have heard a good bit tho] the show started to get close around s4 and had MOSTLY caught up by the end of s6, meaning that s7 is MOSTLY based on their talks with GRRM and what they took from them as opposed to their presentation of books that had released, though again some of s7 is actually still [their presentation of] book stuff and even some of s5 I think was already past the books. As an example of the range, Euron Greyjoy is first mentioned in the second book and first appears in the fourth, while not showing up in the show until s6, so the show lagged behind on him and thus can still pull "future events" [and/or character stuff] from what already happened; but the 5th book and 5th season both end on Jon dying so they're both at the same point on him and to move on the show has to move past the books as early as the beginning of s6; Bran shot ahead in the show so they cut him out for s5 'cuz he was too close to current events (relative to what they were going to cut out), he moved past the books about halfway through s6, "Hold the Door" never [/has yet to?] happened in the books, he's still "training"; while the end of s6 has Arya showing back up in Westeros but by book 5 Arya is still in Braavos so the show is- well actually I think it lagged behind on Arya for a while but then fast tracked her through a bunch of stuff and by the end of s6 she's ahead but I think not by much and certainly not as much as Jon or Bran, though of course I can't say for sure 'cuz who knows how future books move; and obviously I won't tell you something the books are still ahead on 'cuz it's either a spoiler or a plotline that's only in the books. So the truest answer is it depends on which plotline you're talking about, and even then maybe this info is out there online but I certainly don't know which talks they had and didn't have with GRRM so I don't know exactly which things are more, and which things are less, based on direct confirmation of canon; like they could have been guessing about Arya for months while still knowing about Dany's future through the end of the show. I couldn't tell you which things are "from the minds of David and Dan" and which things are "David and Dan's presentation of what GRRM told them". Though again by now I suppose at least some of that info may be out there, I haven't bothered to check, like I think we know they knew at least one thing about something very near the conclusion, though I won't mention it of course. The show has always been the show. ......but technically it "moves past the books", not all at once, somewhere between seasons 4 and 7. A lot of it starts to move ahead during s6, but by the start of s7 most things are ahead of the books, yes

I didn’t know they did SNL skits? All I can remember is the Seth Meyers skits, you know the ones with the baby shower and whatnot? Or are those SNL, I saw them so long ago I don’t remember 😂

You need to do the medieval times bad lip reading and look up the real housewives of Westeros told by the actress who plays Sansa.

He’s actually never released the final book he’s still tweaking it 😂 which is why the show runners went so far left field from the books.

GRRM's last book came out over 10 years ago and to put it in to context, Jon is dead in that book. IMO season 7 is awesome. A lot of season 8 too. You may love it so don't worry about others opinion. It'll be interesting to see your POV though 😁
