2022-10-24 04:42:53 +0000 UTCOptions: If you want your carvings to encompass the stem (nose, tongue, ?...), you can open and "disembowel" the pumpkin from the back or even the bottom. In that case you could not use the self-candle technique used here. But with a hole in the bottom of your pumpkin, you can just set it on top of a candle, which makes it easy to light. Fun tools to try, for new effects: melon baller, small rasp (hardware store), or clay-carving tools. To get the guts out, you might find a big metal spoon at a thrift store, which is both strong and long enough to get inside the pumpkin and reach all the sides, and actually scrape off all the soft stuff. Lifetime pumpkin fiend here.
