Place Cards - From the Mind of Christine McConnell

Comments

Thank you Christine! I just printed out the place card holders in the red color and will be purchasing Victorian mini easels to set them on. I truly appreciate your YouTube videos and Pateron, it is amazing to see somebody else so creative making a Victorian house into a home. I am also renovating at 1860s Victorian, mine actually looks fairly similar to yours! I look forward to seeing all the creative works you come up with. Thank you! Emilie

Emilie Tabaka

Greatone Christine! Would plain card-stock paper be a good option to print these place-cards on? 🤔

Markela Pierce

Thank you! I love the detail!

Joanne Zaborowski

This is delightful!

foof

So amazing!

Christie

Great idea Tammy! I will try that when I make my place cards

Sherrie Dicecco

To save yourself some effort in having to paint all the little dots, make your own dotting tool by sticking a sewing pin into a pencil eraser. Different size pins will give you different sizes dots.

Tammy Warner

How can I find the four of the house at night?

Kathleen Smith

Your attention to detail absolutely astounds me! I’ve used a faux embossing powder that would be a great accent

Lyndsey Zeller

Very good idea! <3

Anna Wilson

There are also third party add on features that allow you to heat foil, engrave, or wood burn. We R Memory Keepers is one brand I can think of off the top of my head.

Andrea Jones

If you decide to buy an electronic cutter be sure to do your research - there are several brands on the market that all do roughly the same range of things, but each has it's on temperament and software logic. I really like my Silhouette Cameo, but some days I wish I would have gone with the Brother Scan and Cut.

Andrea Jones

Christine you definitely need a cricut! You are very talented, but need to rest your creative hands!

Linda

These are so pretty! I love the different colors as well.

Brenda Fairbanks

I'm saving for mine too, and you can get them from joann's now, but I'm going straight to glowforge for mine. The only downside is how loud they are, lol they are LOUD.

Saltywench

Thanks for the info on the Glowforge, at our house we make a lot of art items for sale and that's going to take us up a few levels! Gotta save up for it, but looks worth it.

Dragonwalker

Cricut has changed my life and saved so much time and wrist pain 😂 I grabbed the Maker so it is able to engrave and cuts thin wood as well. I know most of what you do is by hand but if you want something to be replicated, you can create it then add it into your projects. Love the dining room aesthetic!! It’s coming together so beautifully!!

Beth Grixti

Thanks for suggesting! Just started watching, wow!

vermont witch

That's a great idea! I was thinking how if we were guests at her dinner party and she had made the place cards with our names on it, we'd probably all be begging to take them home to keep haha

Buggie

also had the thought... could you use some chalkboard paint in the center so you could erase and reuse these? They turned out so beautiful!

Katie Slocum

Cheryl Kirkpatrick, I agree! I was thinking the same thing!

Katie Slocum

What if you painted the middle part with chalk paint. Then you can use a chalk marker for the names and reuse them. Though if I went to a dinner party at your house I would want to keep my name plate.

Red Queen

Watch the show ESCAPE to the CHATEAU on HGTV

Cheryl Kirkpatrick

I have a Cricut and it’s awesome. Just be sure to look around. The Cricut brand vinyl and other things are outrageously over priced, but if you’re using it more with card stock for stencils, then you’re good.

Colleen

The music is getting even more magical 🧚‍♂️🖤 I want it to be the soundtrack of my life 🧚‍♀️ 🎶

Lyndsay Grimes

They turned out beautifully! Not sure if anyone suggested this yet, however you could create "permanent" cardstock frames with open tops that you could slip paper into with the name on it. It would be easier if you're unable to find a printer who could recreate it. Then, if you find paper the color you want, you would only have to cut the paper, shaped to fit the cardstock frame, not repaint the whole shebang. It would probably be more economical as well.

Sara Caudill

You can iron paper. . . . . no steam, put a silicon mat over it and press away.

Mary Gobet

The dining room is amazing! Are you going to do anything with Fireplace? I'd love to watch that video!!

Linda

So lovely ❤️

Hermine-Virginie Simon

I highly recommend the Cricut maker! I love creating the SVGs and seeing the creations come to life. I made the hubby a face hugger 3D card for Valentine’s Day (inspired by your baking)! Tagged under #creatingwithchristine on Instagram!

Emma Baxter

These look gorgeous!! You're so talented Christine:3

Lauren Downard

Kitty enjoying ASMR =^.^=

Gorgon's Eye

My cricut maker is the bees knees. I told my self "this lady needs a Cricut before her hand falls off." Then you talked about it LOL a cricut would 100% cut out your card holders with easy. Can even write in whatever font you pick.

Scribby Scribner

Just a note on Cricut, they are soon limiting the number of uploads to 20 designs per month on their print software and then charging a subscription fee if you want to do more.

Katrina Laukaitis

Loved this mini episode Christine!! And yessss to the Cricut! I would love to see you using that!

Samantha McDonald

Very cool!

Rez NYC

Today is my birthday! What a lovely video to end my night on. Thank you! The place cards are beautiful!!!

Annalise

I love that show. I wanted to recommend that show to her too.

Sandra Martinez

Check out Royal Bayreuth Rose teacups, Christine. They are hard to find, but are breathtakingly avant garde and would look incredible with your place card holders and dishes. Royal Bayreuth made some dishes from the Victorian era that you would not BELIEVE came from that time period. They truly are otherworldly (and sometimes cost otherworldly prices😬)

Jared A

Of course!

Leslie Harry

Forget a criket machine, get a Glowforge. You NEED a glowforge. Once you see what it can do you will be stunned out of your pumps. It's a laser cutter than can cut just about any material from any hand drawing you place inside it, it's magic, and you will never go back once you play with one. It can copy any fidley carving, making woodwooking a dream, so if you want to send out 500 lightswitches to people, no problem. leather, fabric, paper wood, it carves anything. It works from hand drawn images, uploaded patterns, pictures from a book, it literally does it all. PLEASE check out a glowforge.

Saltywench

I love that your creating technique is old school. My first year of community collage - for commercial art, this is how we learned. They way you drafted the candy heart box was how we would have tackled that project. I really enjoy your talents, and that old nostalgic feeling. Thank you.

Jenetta Michelle Lacayo

THANK THE LORD you’re thinking of getting a cricut! As a graphic designer I am so impressed by your precision and attention to detail, but I also am virtually scooting a Wacom tablet and a Cricut towards you...😂

Jillian Melgosa

Get the Cricut Maker! I love mine and it has so many functions.

Stacey Rowell

If you create one for Christine, or for yourself, would you consider sharing it with us others? If you share things on the Discord group that's a great way to find such a file!

Dragonwalker

This feels like Christmas with all these videos 🤗💘

Louise Hartley

love them! They are beautiful. I’m Really enjoying all the episodes ! Thank you Christine and Captive 😊🥰

Victoria Gates

Cricut is nice, I have a silhouette and we love it. Each cutter tries to one up the other so it has been awhile since I have looked into them so who knows which one is on top now. We went with the silhouette at the time because you could use all the files with the silhouette and the circuit only allowed you to use their files.

Michelle Ford-Copley

Love the Majolica dishes and your gold stemware is beautiful.

Nancy Jones

Gorgeous!

little taosenx

If you want a cut file created for a cricut, silhouette, or laser cutter let me know :)

Leslie Harry

Lovely! They turned out so beautiful. That blue color in the printable is going to look perfect in my home :)

Sarah Augustinsky

Yay!

Vanessa Jaramillo

I would enjoy having my name on the card. They are special.

Debra Palermo

Cool little episode! You can also flatten paper by putting it in between two pieces of fabric once it's dry and ironing it on a not so high level, it becomes flat in seconds!

Simón J.

That’s a great idea!!!

Joanna Lewis

Cricut Maker® for sure! Let’s you cut way more material types like fabric and even matboard and leather! It even has an embossing feature 🥰 Just remember to change your blades frequently. 🔪

Bryan Yu

#pencilASMR ✏️😍

Bryan Yu

Loving all the color variations on the pdf!!

Buggie

That’s an awesome show ✨

Genevieve Clough

These are so pretty!! Cat question... do you keep these out on display or just when expecting company? My kitty is a paper fiend and I’d love to know any tips on displaying stuff like this with pets

Joni

Exquisite. Now to find card holders that will do them justice...❤️

The Homesick Brit

Beautiful! You’re spoiling us with all these videos!

Amanda Menjivar

Nice-thank you!

Sufani Garza

omg for some reason I got a bit emotional 🥺 It must be stress. We are month away from our tiny family only brunch wedding and this will be the perfect little addition to our table! Once less thing to make or buy. These are beautiful. Thank you!

Ruthmarie Tenorio

So beautiful as always, Christine! Would it be possible to cut these from craft wood? I was thinking maybe use chalkboard paint so you could change out the guests' names.

Tammy R Dowden

Can it be October already? So looking forward to switching on all of my Halloween props and having dinner parties again. These would be great to use for guests! Really love the table setting too. I’ve gained so much inspiration over the last year for doing decorating my own place since the start of your videos

Ryan McFadden

Check out a show called Escape to the Chateau on HGTV

Cheryl Kirkpatrick

Kassiopia Fiala

So gorgeous!! Loving this series idea, it flows really beautifully and I feel like I’m learning so much!

Jessica Darne

So beautiful! I really love this series, and I also like that you chose to make more shorter episodes. So we can watch something new every few days. :-)

RetroCat

Very nice! Yes, I think a cricut will be a great investment for you to avoid having to cut so much, especially with your hand/ wrist issues, it can cut most things even thin wood, and some even have the ability to print as well, I just got one there is definitely a learning curve for me haha, maybe when you get one do a quick how to import your own design print and cut tutorial

Summer Rose Barnes

I was just about to say you need a cricut machine and then you said it lol - these are beautiful <3

Erin C

I use a Cricut Maker and I have a LOT of issues getting the cuts to line up with my prints. I have read a few people that have said the Sillouette Cameo has no issues. I may have to make the switch with my next machine purchase. Research all your options.

Sinister Sarah

This was my favorite part of the dining room series!
