Gothic Napkins (Official Episode) - From the Mind of Christine McConnell

Comments

I wonder if anyone has tried this on a regular square napkin? I am getting married in October and would love to even somewhat replicate this look on all of our plates but due to time constraints cutting out and stitching all 80 some odd napkins is just not feasible.

Ebay ❣

Christina Raney

Anyone know where she got those snake napkin rings? Has she ever said?

Lauren Ashby

These are truly exquisite! I want to be invited to a dinner party at your house! Your videos are like watching an extreme sport! Wow. Amazing!! Are you the astrological sign of a Virgo? The detail is so precise! Thank you.🍷

Joanne Zaborowski

Hi Sonja, I don’t know how much it cost at the time, I received my overlocker as a gift from my parents (birthday and Christmas presents combined) in 2013. Googling Janome 8002DX, a slightly updated model seemed the be available for AUD$389 maybe take a look and see what it costs near where you live, I think Janome sales here usually happen once a year around May

Katelyn Patterns

You would find it so helpful with your garment construction, also. I am a new subscriber and am enjoying your creativeness and the creations! Thank you.

Brenda Ellendson

This is super-helpful!! What did your machine cost? Super-Thanks!!! : )

Sonja Kraner

If I’m not butting in πŸ˜… baby lock and Janome are also reliable brands. I have a Janome 8002DX. The most useful thing to look for is that the machine can be converted from 4 thread to 3 thread and the cutting blade can be adjusted and the stitch finger can be dropped so you can do a rolled hem. My machine also came with different feet for attaching cording, strings of beads or wire to the edge of fabric. You can also buy attachments for gathering one piece of fabric onto another at the same time as you overlock them together. My mum has one of these and it’s amazing for making tiered skirts or petticoats 😊

I just have a really old Berina which suits me fine. I prefer the basic ones to the really fancy ones, but I suppose it depends on what you will be doing with it. Also, I'm in Australia and I believe USA has more choice. Sorry i can't be more helpful. Love your work by the way πŸ˜€ xxx

Zoeayn Pollard

Thank you Zoeayn! I agree and think I might have to! Do you have a brand or model you suggest?

Christine McConnell

Lovely! I would like to suggest you get a serger/overlocker it will make your life soooo much easier. Totally worth the money, you would of done each napkin in 5 minutes easy πŸ˜€ xxx

Zoeayn Pollard

I am in awe of your artistry!

Cesar

These turned out so beautiful !

Corie H

I suggest making a umbrella β˜‚ using this technique!!!!

Nancy Hoffman

The amount of patience you have astounds me. These turned out gorgeous, but I'm not sure I'd be able to manage it myself:')

Lauren Downard

Batty and like a Georgia O'Keeffe flower all in the same. Amazing! Love your work and videos!

Deborah Paulsen

So beautiful!!

Kasy Santos

Loved this! I’m wondering if one could make a much smaller version for an ornament, brooch, or hair accessory πŸ€”

Lacie Fazio

Lindsey

Danee Paullin Kaplan

I know, aren't we lucky! Thank you, I really ought to organise myself and make sure I photograph/video everything...

Charlotte Meyer

So exciting!! Would LOVE to see what you do with such a space, I would love to be able to have a home like that! There are so many gorgeous old cottages and houses here in England!

Natasha

So, I absolutely love the score based on the sounds of the clocks in the house. It's really beautiful. (Also, I miss the sound of coo-coo clocks.)

Rosalie Langmod

Really liked it done in this format!

Katherine Young

Hi Christine, I've just put in an offer on a 17th century cottage - so excited, and hoping it's all going to go through ok. It would have been built during the height of the witch hunts in England so you can imagine the sort of decor I'm planning! I think these napkins will definitely feature.

Charlotte Meyer

Christine, all I asked was whether you use cloth napkins or paper. Geez πŸ™„

David

So good! I loved this smaller episode!

Samantha McDonald

WOW! It's funny that it looked perfect almost immediately, but then you kept fiddling with it anyway.

little taosenx

Sometimes we poke Albert A. Cat when he's sleeping soundly, just to make sure...

Mina Murray

honest to goodness I was terrified the whole time because the cat was in such an odd position and he just didn't move lol also Christine you inspire me to want to get better with a sewing machine love yew

Monique Nicole

love it!!!

Shelby Snow

I love them! I'm a novice sewer--I'm learning again after MANY moons past Home Ec in high school, so I don't think mine would be as beautiful as yours, but this is a really cool idea!

Tammy R Dowden

Hello! So nice!! I think I might have a trick to make the sewing faster and maybe a little less fraying: first cutting the fabric along the marker line, then ironing on the tear away stabilizing fabric, and after that sewing the thick zig zag only once (perhaps making it even thicker?), then tear away... I thought of it because its how you do appliquΓ© on embroidery machines, sort of. Hope it helps :) ahh yes! there is also a stabilizer that dissolves when washed. Love what you do Christine!

clara jungman

The anticipation for the wallpaper is killing me. I am SO excited to see how this turned out and am eagerly waiting to see the completed dining room. This is gonna be so awesome.

Racheal Jones

FIVE? Oh, yay yay yay

Racheal Jones

I absolutely LOVE these napkins and have been looking for snake/bat rings, necklaces and earrings so they'll turn out similar to yours. They don't even have to match. It's autumn here in Australia so having so many episodes to watch, in already single digit temps is AWESOME xx

Liana Palumbo

πŸ–€πŸ–€πŸ–€

Claudette Marco

Definitely making my own very soon, thanks for this.

Liv

Fantastic as usual. Great recap of the process. Adding it to my craft β€œTo Do” list. And the Captive’s use of the clock sounds in the score of this video brought a smile to my face. Hope you all are safe and well. Looking forward to the wallpaper series. XOXOX

The Homesick Brit

Love these! Now I’m inspired to make some for our new house! When you made the pattern, did you intend for them to be able to lay out like the finished product or was it more of a cool pattern you liked and the foldability was a happy side effect?

Jessica Darne

I'm obsessed with the place settings. Beautiful and whimsical!

Sonya Colley

Gorgeous table setup! Love your dress! Thank you for this video and I can’t wait for the next ones coming up! πŸ’œ
