Sunday June 28th Funeral Fan Craft-Along! 10:00 AM PST
Added 2020-06-21 15:30:04 +0000 UTC
Hello!
I'm planning the Funeral Fan Craft-Along for next Sunday the 28th at 10:00AM PST and will be enjoying tea and cookies while we craft :D
Attached are the printouts and templates. The fan is going to consist of three layers and below are supplies you'll want to have on hand. I haven't done this before, so It will be an adventure for all of us :)))
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/if8960heu42lhr1/AACEyviBZMWwzit0ZB-Y1nE_a?dl=0
UPDATE/Edit: The outer dark green line is where we will be making our cuts, and the excess aged paper on the boarders is sacrificial, so if your printer cuts into it, it's no problem :))
I'm printing the color images on somewhat thick matte photo paper (The old fans weren't glossy) but you can work with what you have!
Supply List:
Printouts to cut out and assemble
Exacto knife or razor
Cutting surface
Glue of choice (I'm using Mod Podge and possibly even a hot glue gun)
Needle and thread
Scissors
Lace & ribbon (The old fans didn't have this and I'm not even sure I'll use it, but I like to be prepared :D
Stapler maybe?
Gold paint and fine brushes
Brown, black or gold sharpie (To fix any white spots showing through if our cuts are rough)
Cutout wood for handle, or a long popsicle stick, or firm wire, or whatever you find!
and the #1 RULE is there aren't any rules! If this inspires you to design your own fan or swap out the image in the center for something else, feel free to! Any kind of creativity is encouraged!
I'm REALLY looking forward to this and can't wait to see you all again :)))
We'll be using the #CreatingwithChristine hashtag so we can all see each others projects!
-Christine
Hi Christine I am new to your Patreon and wanted to do this project but the dropbox link is no longer available. Is there other way to download the file? Thank you~

Christine,
Since I am new to your channel, I am only beginning to make my way through your archive. Is this an image you created? It is so well done! I love it!

This episode actually made me teary-eyed. I had a furbaby leave me over a year ago. This painting is so touching and awesome.

This painting was one of my favourite things I've ever watched you create, it was so emotive that I tear up just looking at it. I just zoomed in to the image to see it a little clearer and couldn't help but notice that the house you painted in the background looks ALOT like your new house!? Not sure when you found your new house and whether this was intentional but I had to point it out, its uncanny!

Getting caught up on all the episodes and live-streams I’ve missed over the last couple of months and I’m watching the funeral fan craft along and heard you reference the painting you did and when I just looked at this painting I started bawling...it’s so beautiful and has me more in my feels because my “soul-mate” kitty is getting older and having a lot of health problems recently I have had her since I was 19 and I’m 35 now I literally have had her since she was 4 weeks old and she has been a part of my entire adult life I just don’t know how I’m going to live without her she has been my one constant source of love...she has outlasted husbands, friends, everyone lol I love how your special guy is always in your heart and you keep him present in your life!

Oh nooooo, I got the time conversion wrong, Sunday 28th 10am PST is Monday 3am Sydney Australia time 😿. I will have to watch the recorded session instead but I have all my materials ready! Sad I won’t be able to craft along with everyone here but please tag your creations on IG with the hashtag Christine has so I can see all your brilliant fans

Because my partner is amazing (and is a carpenter by trade), he cut a piece of scrap wood into the template shape for me. I still have the paint stirrer for back up!

I am so excited for this! My friend had glossy photo paper so we used that! It’s sooo beautiful glossy! I also had a great idea of using one of those thin wood paint stirrers from Lowes (they are free!) for the handle. The detail of this fan is just lovely! Can’t wait to put it all together 💕

Nicholas, yes! It's the outermost dark line that we will be cutting along.

I am red/green color blind, so am I correct in assuming that the black line on the perimeter of the gold portion is the line we are talking about?

Don't be scared! It'll be fun. And whatever you make will be great. Lots of people like to put their own spin on the projects. Check out some the pictures at #creatingwithchristine to see.

Oh I wish I could, but that's the day of my son's birthday party, he's turning 6. He enjoys your videos almost as much as I do, so I'll have to make sure to watch it with him on Monday. Have fun everyone!

My sweetheart just brought me a paint stirrer and it's much narrower than Christine's handle template. So, if you want to use one, you'll need to scale it down.

Wow - I love the feeling of depth the paper frame gives your painting - like I could put my hand into the other world! (Also I love the ad on the fan back!)

The wooden sticks to stir paint that they give out when you buy wall paint would make a good handle for the fan. You can probably get them free at a paint store.

Hello! Sarah Bear sent me a picture and I should have clarified: The outer dark green line is where we will be making our cuts, and the excess aged paper on the boarders is sacrificial, so if your printer cuts into it, it's no problem :)) It's just there to avoid any stark white if anyone over cuts their fan :))

Mine are cut off as well :( I'm not sure what to do about that!

Uh oh, the top edges of the printouts for fan front/back are cut off. Is anybody else having that problem?

I can’t wait for this, I really needed something positive to look forward to to get me through the week and so this is so exciting! This community is so uplifting, thank you so much for sharing it with all of us! 🖤
I’m in quarantine (someone in my household tested positive) so do you think printing on a good card stock would work? ⚰️

I was watching the oil painting video and it reminded me so much of my pet Mr.marples. My brother watched it too and said you are a very inspiring artist and that your work is amazing. I agree!
Thanks for crafting with us. Its gonna be a nice sunday.
Should we make sugar cookies or chocolate chip for the craft along?🐱

Yay! I printed mine on paper that was 8.5 X11. So an 8X10 might print just a tad smaller, but should it work :D
