Hey, everyone!
I think I've finally locked down the color approach that I want for the AA graphic novel! After almost two years of experimenting with different coloring techniques, I've arrived at the image above, which I really, really like. It has enough gradients and textures to look like a modern comic book (mostly in the background), but the characters still benefit from the simple cell shading and color palette of the bronze and silver age comics that inspired me to create Amazon Arrow in the first place. We're finally starting to see how this book is going to look!
I'm really happy with this approach and I hope you like it as well. My plan for the week is to upgrade all of my IndieGoGo campaign preview images using this style. For those of you wondering about the status of the book itself, I will be releasing a campaign update via email to all backers. It is taking me longer than I expected and I keep ADDING PAGES TO THE BOOK! I really want this to be a standalone AA graphic novel, but there are also worldbuilding elements and parts of AA's origin story going all the way back to the Trojan War that I don't want to leave out. I'm still not sure what the final page count is going to be, but it's already over the 60 pages promised during the funding campaign. This is the foundation upon which future comics will be built, so I want it to be mind-blowing and I'm confident that it will be exactly that!
If you haven't backed it yet, the IndieGoGo campaign for the Amazon Arrow: Immortal Reign #1 graphic novel is still "Indemand" for a limited time!
