Vanish's Diary: Day 6

Weight went back up a pound this morning. No idea why. I did end up having that vanilla milkshake yesterday, but it's not like you can gain a pound over night from one milkshake, right? Normal people get to have milkshakes and it's no big deal, but apparently I can't have one damn shake without inflating like a balloon. It's ridiculous!

My husband is FINALLY coming home for the weekend. His business travels take him away for days, sometimes weeks, at a time. The strain on our marriage has become a serious problem. We can't help but to feel disconnected. In the beginning, we would exchange phone calls every day, or mail gifts to each other, or spend hours at night on Skype. Slowly, all of that faded away. We rarely communicate at all now when he's away, beyond a few text messages here and there.

Dan was severely injured during Operation Desert Storm. To save his life, he was given an experimental serum intended to accelerate his body's ability to heal. Without it, Dan most likely would have died. The serum worked beyond expectations and he survived. Not only can Dan heal from any wound almost instantly, he is impervious to toxins and disease. It's possible that he may never age. He's also extremely strong, coordinated and fast, rating at beyond-Olympic levels in most physical tasks. We later found out that Dan was one of only about a dozen soldiers to take the treatment and survive, which means that his blood is a rare and valuable scientific commodity. He travels all over the country, allowing various government agencies and pharmaceutical companies to experiment on him. Dan has always been a hero, and it's his way of giving back to the people that saved his life. The research that they are conducting on his blood and tissue samples could lead to the development of rapid vaccines, cures for cancer, and perhaps unlock the key to immortality for us all.

The places that he goes to are all highly classified and I am "not authorized" to tag along. What he does is important. I know that. I'm very proud of him... but the separation is tearing our marriage apart. 

I've decided to put in some effort when he gets home tonight. I've been feeling pretty good about myself lately, now that I'm trying to diet and workout and rediscover my inner superheroine. I'm sure we could both use a little sexy time. I sure as hell could!

I'll have to come up with a plan to get Kailey out of the house for awhile, so that I can do unspeakable things to her father.
