Amazon Arrow Video Game?

Hi everyone!

A few months ago, I launched this Patreon with the intention of developing new Amazon Arrow "things" that I couldn't normally do with my existing software assets. To take Chryseis, Pyrrah and Aella into new mediums, I knew that I would need new tools... and some of those tools unfortunately are not free. Now that Patreon has been rolling right along, I decided to invest in a software program designed to create "Visual Novels".

A Visual Novel is a type of video game that allows you to participate in an interactive story. You make choices and solve puzzles along the way that contribute towards determining the outcome of the game... kind of like a "Choose Your Own Adventure" novel with a bit more interactivity. There are lots of free Visual Novels in the iTunes and Google Play app stores, if you're interested in learning more about the genre.

Making the story itself is fairly easy, and of course I don't have much trouble generating the required artwork, but making the "minigames" and "puzzles" is a bit more complicated and requires more programming expertise than I currently possess. I knew that I would require some sort of basic combat system though, so that AA could face off against a few bad guys along the way. This functionality is beyond the scope of most Visual Novels, so I had to get creative.

After a few days worth of experimentation, I managed to convert a Visual Novel Blackjack game into my very own custom combat system! That's what you see in the post above. Basically it works like a game of Blackjack. When you enter the combat minigame, AA is assigned a random attack score of 1-11 and the bad guy gets the same. You can then choose to add to AA's attack score, which will give her an additional 1-11 points. You can do this multiple times, but the goal is to get AA's attack score as close to 21 as possible without going over. If she goes over, she loses the round and takes damage. When you are satisfied with AA's score, you lock it in. At that point the villain's score will randomly increase as the villain tries to get closer to 21 than AA. If the villain gets closer to 21, then AA takes damage and loses 1 HP. If the villain goes over 21, then the villain takes damage and loses 1 HP. Once AA or the bad guy falls to zero HP, the fight ends and the loser is knocked out. If the villain loses, the story continues. If AA loses, then that probably triggers a "bad" ending, or leads into a chapter with AA in peril. That might sound complicated, but Blackjack is a simple game and it doesn't take long to get the hang of it.

At any rate, this Blackjack-based combat system allows YOU to determine the outcome of the villain encounters with a bit of luck and skill to carry AA through the adventure. I'm having fun with the test version and I hope you enjoy it once it's finally released. As I learn more about puzzle design and programming, I'll hopefully be able to make more cool things in the future.

When will it be released? I have no idea. I'm just tinkering with it in my non-existent spare time... but I can say for sure that it will be released here on Patreon first, and hopefully that happens before the end of the year. The game engine that I'm using can be exported to iTunes and Google Play, so I'm hoping to release it there also. There might also be a "Nude Variant" version released to my "Amazon Elite" members.

As always, thank you all so much for your contributions. I couldn't do this stuff without your support!

Peace!

Chryseis
