With Sonya's update coming next week, it's time we give you some insight on what to expect. This time, there's a lot.
Our game has existed for long enough, that we are starting to encounter a problem of keeping new stories fresh and unique. With the limited set of tools at our disposal, there's only so many ways to make characters talk and mingle, so this time we are finally giving a shot at adding branching paths. This is only one of the possible ways we could make the game feel engaging, without having to implement new core mechanics, and it's definitely nothing new in the genre, but we think it might add a necessary variety and even some level of replayability our game previously lacked.
This is officially the first ever route in our game to feature unique interactions, that would depend on your previous choices and the stories you have already completed! And while it is somewhat basic and will not affect the outcome of the story itself, at least for now, it does have a major impact on how the new questline will progress and which steps you'd have to take to achieve your goal. In the future we will further expand on this idea, and maybe even add story-altering choices you could make as a player, but it will obviously depend on how well this addition is received. When it comes to the content itself, this is a big one. First of all, and probably the most important bit of the entire post, this content update includes three full-fledged h-scenes to make up for all the time you had to spend blueballed after her previous story addition. On top of it, animations are coming back!
This is, without a doubt, one of the biggest updates we have ever produced. In many ways, all thanks to the aforementioned branching paths, but also dozens of new interactions, which would take you all over the campus and will let you take a first peak at Sonya's true motives. We couldn't resist a temptation to add a little bit of mystery. The scenes themselves will introduce a few new ideas which we wanted to try for a while, but never got a chance, so you might be pleasantly surprised by the variety this update has to offer
On top of that, we know that some of you might be excited to know that Bo is making a return! Sadly, you won't be able to romance her just yet, but it's definitely on the table.
To summarize, we wanted to make the experience of playing our game a little less "railroaded", and later we will try to utilize and perfect this new approach. Our goal is to make the stories not only interesting, but also engaging and worth playing, not just reading. The fact that we call our game a "visual novel" doesn't excuse a tedious nature of some of its aspects, so it's about time to up our game! Both literally, and figuratively.
