trying out new procreate brushes

I've been having a grand old time trying out different inking brushes for Procreate -- Wendy Xu makes so many great ones so I added a few more to my collection to test out. I'm trying to find something I want to use for the lineart on my deskmat...like I said in one of my notes in that concept doc, I think I want most of the visual interest/texture to come from the lineart versus the coloring style.

I also recently discovered that an illustrator I love, Bryce Kho, has a surprising amount of media available on YouTube about his process!! (I really like this one about his coloring process) He's been hugely inspirational the last few days. This particular video about him turning strangers into Pokemon trainers is really incredible to watch -- the way that he carves out people using just contours, with no constructions or base drawings, is frankly magical.

I hope you don't mind me just uploading occasional sketches and drawings as I make them, as opposed to uploading everything on one given day. I think doing it this way makes me feel like I can loop y'all into the ~journey~ a lil bit more y'know?
