blog: we open tomorrow!!

Hello my dears!! I'm coming to you live from the dressing room, where I'm crocheting and listening to them work through our second to last day of tech rehearsal :o) We open tomorrow evening!! And then on Friday we have our first of three understudy rehearsals which will be my time to shine >:D

One of the other understudies had to go on for the main character in rehearsal the other day cause the actor was dealing with some personal stuff, and watching how nervous he was made ME nervous, and I had to do a check-in with myself, and be honest about whether or not I felt prepared. I have three sets of lines, three sets of blocking, and prop/costume tracking to cover, and I honestly do feel quite prepared!! We've been in previews, and so every night I've just been sat in the dressing room lip syncing along to all my lines to make sure that I know them lolol. It's also helpful for me to realize where the gaps are in my learning! I also have some choreo to keep track of for the female lead, and that's...more challenging but I feel decent about it heheh.

I've brought like...a good portion of my yarn stash with me to my dressing room, cause crocheting is a great way to keep my hands busy while my brain focuses on the show, so I don't absolutely tear my cuticles to shreds. It's a little more idle and takes less brain power than drawing, so I find it better for splitting my focus. I'll be getting back into the studio (at last!) on Thursday, and I have days/afternoons off here and there. Would y'all be interested in a crochet tutorial video for this month's freebie? I know last time we did a coaster, but this time, I was thinking we could like, a drawstring pouch?? or a little bag? I also learned how to do these very cute flowers. OR we could do a star garland !! Let me know what sounds good to you. :o) I made this very cute little peach pouch as a present for my director!! I followed this tutorial from Hay Hay Crochet <3 

I wanna make another one and take some good photos of it to put on my main Insta feed hehe

Speaking of yarn, I went on a little retail therapy shopping spree yesterday and picked up a whole bunch of Wool Ease, with the hopes of making myself a cardigan for the spring. I was thinking emerald green for the body of the sweater, making pockets in that dusty rose, and the ribbing on the sleeves/front of the cardigan in a nice ivory! 

I think it could be very fun. :o) I really wanna make it a YouTube video, but I wanna make it more vlog style, to give myself a little bit of breathing room on it. I think a big thing behind my lack of energy re: YouTube is cause I set up these huge expectations for myself and what my videos need to be, but I really gotta think about getting back to my easier, very vloggy style, cause then I still get to have fun framing shots, but I'm not worried about everything being like..very VISIBLE and presentational like a lot of the footage from my studio turns out. 

I hope y'all are well!! The March tangerine rewards have come in, so I'll be able to get started on those next week. I'm trying to balance my work -- Mondays are my guaranteed day off from the theatre, so I'm seeing if I can work like...half-days at the studio lolol so I have a chance to recoup between show days. Especially after the weekends, which are usually two shows on Sat, and two on Sunday lol. I pretty much just sit around, but I gotta stay ready and on it which takes a certain amount of energy.
