hi friends! I feel like it wasn't too long ago that I posted a video like this, but it seems a lot of the same things are plaguing my brain. This is a video basically explaining that I hit a sort of breaking point this past weekend, and am gonna be keeping very quiet for a while to realign myself and establish a baseline. I'm still gonna be posting here for you guys, of course, but I'm probably not gonna be posting on Insta, Twitch, or YouTube. I'm in "crisis self care mode" as Connor calls it, and as silly as it feels, I know that if I don't do this now, this cycle will keep repeating for..probably my whole life, lol.
Also, I did some retail therapy this morning at JOANN, so there's a little yarn haul in there too, hahah. I love y'all a lot, and am so thankful for you guys. You are the very best. <3

Honestly I relate to this a lot. I guess all I could say is that I'm really glad you are and get to take this time off. I run a business too and I really benefit from the kindness of my clients, which feels difficult because I want to be a fully with it professional. So from that perspective I hope you feel how genuinely at least I am happy to get to support you while you take time off.

some of what you said reminded me of the end of this video, basically saying we need to treat our mental health just as serious as are physical health we need to unlearn that selfishness is a bad word a good extreme example of this is when on an airplane we are told to put on are own oxygen masks first before helping others to do the same. In a video game sometimes you need to use your turn to heal yourself and that will help everyone in the long run but we shouldn’t need to get to breaking point to do these things it’s okay to take care of yourself

I hope your break helps! The routine thing really resonated with me. My dog went to stay with my parents for a week while there were some mandatory renovations being done in my flat and just... my routine went out the window and I felt awful. I always joke how the dog is my office manager because I'm a freelancer, but apparently he's also my life coach who reminds me to eat at normal times and go to bed at a reasonable hour.

Hi Cheyenne, It looks like everyone agrees that you should take the time you need! I just wanted to reiterate I guess that that means more than a month or two or three! I let myself get in a pretty bad headspace once and kept wanting to get help but then kept chickening out and saying “no I can still do this, I can still fulfill everyone's expectations of me.” Eventually it just really got to be too much and I had to go to an inpatient facility for a little while. After some time and I was feeling better and had a plan for taking care of myself, I got out and started an outpatient program. I really don't want you to keep telling yourself what I was telling myself if you are! I'm happy that you are smarter than I was and are taking care of yourself now. My outpatient program meant I was on disability for three months because I still couldn't work and was going to therapy groups for three hours a day, three days a week. I took all that time to do little things that I liked and just try to keep focused on taking care of myself. It helped me tremendously 😭 I haven't had SI in over a year!! Really giving yourself the time for healing and care even though it feels like an overreaction will be so beneficial. I'm not sure the details and stuff but maybe an outpatient program (virtual?) could be an option? I was lucky to find one with other people my age with some similar struggles. Or not totally too! You will know what you need :) anyway sending love and I'm happy you are taking this time for yourself

The “OMGGGG I’m doing it! I’m doing great! I love life! I love being in control of my life!” And the crash thereafter when you suddenly just feel... Wrong. And awful.. well that crash can be so discouraging. So take all the time you need. Healing isn’t linear. You are so worthy of rest! And we will all be here to support you afterwards.

You are not alone ❤️ it's so easy to feel like we're the only ones failing to be functional people though. But you're not. Being a person isn't easy. Getting better is a process and realising when you're not doing so well is a good sign of progress. DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP OVER THIS.

Take all the break you need, and don't feel silly/guilty about taking a whole month off. I've only just re-opened my shop and got back into things after taking 2 months off. We live in this weird world where we are made to think we HAVE to work all the time/full time and be productive all the time, and we don't. It's all made up. You do whats best for you lovely :) xx

Just going to throw this out there, I would love a full granny square tutorial. Zoomed in and you explaining and taking it really slow. That way it doesn’t have to be editing intensive, you don’t have to do a chatty/personal voice over, and you get to share something with us while crocheting still? Just an idea. 🧶

Please take care of your brain, it's a pretty crucial bit. My brain also breaks and then goes "why are you reacting to the breaking, just get on with it". Brains are tricky things. If it helps, can you rephrase it as instead of you taking time off as recovery (so a reactive thing), you're taking time off in order to clarify your focus and direction for the year, and set yourself up, so it's pro-active. That doing those things helps your brain is a happy side effect. That way your brain can't tell you that you're overreacting or any of those other unhelpful nonsensical things brains like to say, because you're not doing any of that, you're recalibrating, as you said.
Anyway, in amongst all that nonsense I just spewed because it's late here in the UK and I'm only half conscious still, what I wanted to say was even though the hole is dark and cold and horrid, we're there with you. I know we can't get you out, but we can at least be with you (and moan about the grotty conditions because the unwanted roommates in our brains are rubbish at housework/home-care). Sending so much love.

I had a similar experience when I was your age (lol that makes me feel so old - I'm almost 40 now!), and I SO wish I would have stopped and assessed my situation then because it would have lasted so much less time. On a personal note, (because you’ve been so vulnerable with us, I feel the need to reassure you that you’re not alone in these feelings) I’ve been feeling quite the same lately and it really sucks to be at a high point for so long that you feel you’re getting better, only to then have a “reality check” and be right back at square one. I’m really happy that you have a support group to help you through this!
It’s also really nice to actually see someone I look up to taking a break and prioritizing their mental health, because it’s something I’ve been struggling with for a long time. More recently, I’ve been doing some therapy and trying my best to keep myself in mind, but I can have bad days. It’s really reassuring to me that I’m not alone in that either.
Anyway, sending you and your lil family lots of love and best wishes. I hope you get to give Sophie all the kisses! 💖 (That rhymed lol)

I have learned that the hard way too many times. I took the rest of the day off today when my digestion issues peaked and I’m so glad I did. Making things worse by not listening to your body is not helpful.
