025. patience and persistence

hi y'all! sorry this episode gets a bit emotional — i'm feeling a lot of things today that i can't quite sort out! i'll work on it though <3 i love you!

"We will not go back to normal. Normal never was. Our pre-corona existence was never normal other than we normalized greed, inequity, exhaustion, depletion, extraction, disconnection, confusion, rage, hoarding, hate and lack. We should not long to return, My friends. We are being given the opportunity to stitch a new garment. One that fits all of humanity and nature."

Your honesty helps me so dang much Cheyenne 💜 I’m sending you a big hug today! It’s so hard not to let comments bother you when it’s about things that you work so hard to create well. At the end of the day, you don’t owe anyone anything. I struggle really hard with trying to make too many people happy but recently I challenged myself to create selfishly and I’ve created some of my best work since then. I highly recommend a small sort of workbook that helped me a ton called How to Not Always Be Working by Marlee Grace. It has helped me a ton with sorting my work and finding small blissful moments for myself. Keep pushing, you got this ☺️💕

hey Cheyenne! I am so sorry to hear that things have been hard recently - what with the state of the world, having to manage personal life and duties, and then having to manage expectations of others on top of that. That’s a lot - and I think you’re doing so well with the content that you share both here and on youtube. A friend of mine who follows your work on youtube is always so so grateful and happy to watch your videos (and this is regardless of scheduling!!). Just as you are grateful for those who show up in whatever capacity they can in your life, there is me and my friend and a whole lot of people who are rooting for you and are grateful for you in whatever capacity you show up in, too 💛 And thank you for your honesty and openness in sharing what you’re going through. I struggle with the feeling of falling behind too but I believe that we will never miss out on what is meant for us and a lot of it is a matter of timing. I’m also trying to remind myself to take it a day at a time (or 25 minutes at a time, actually, cause I’m Pomodoro-ing a lot to get through, haha!). That said, I hope journaling has/will help you in sorting out how you’re feeling. And I hope you feel / will feel better. Sending lots of love your way! 💛✨

So much of what you are saying in this episode hit home for me. I'm a stage manager and i've been talking a lot with my theatre friends about what it means to try to create during this time, and the difficulty of continuing to Do the Thing when everything is so uncertain. It sometimes feels like there's such a pressure on creatives right now to Create, however we can, without the acknowledgement that it might be hard enough just to get through the day, let alone make something. So I just wanted to say, you're so great, and I'm so grateful that you share as much of yourself as you do with us, and i hope that you never feel like you are making things because you have to, rather than making things because you want to. Thank you so much for all that you do. lots of theatre love from CA <3

thank you so much for this episode, honestly it was so encouraging to hear how you’ve been feeling recently, i’ve been feeling really similar and just struggling to get through every day at the moment. and thank you so much for the end bit, i honestly cried, i didn’t realise how much i needed to hear that someone was grateful that i am alive. we’ll get through this, thank you for all you do ❤️❤️

so sorry to hear just how much the comments about 'being mia' have been getting to you. i honestly don't think the comment about youtube consistency is warranted; it's important to take into consideration that you are a one woman team who's creating new art, running a shop, and filming/editing/posting videos that are anywhere from 20 minutes to nearly an hour on top of your patreon duties (which, as you mentioned, is the content that people pay for). from the outside, i'd say that it seems like you've got a pretty good balance between all of your career tasks and taking time to yourself; i find what little you tell us of the routine to be quite inspiring as balance is something that i'm trying to learn as well ✨
