NEED UR OPINION, PALS

SO !! i need some input. as much as i love the name "gentle and ruthless" it just feels..not quite right, if that makes sense? i love it and i like what it represents, but i want to change it to just "cheyenne barton, illustration and design" and just bring all my different arts under one "brand". so i'd just have one instagram account, chey.barton, where you'd find my art and bits and pieces of my life — it's weird to be changing so soon after rebranding once, but i feel like this is a good move. the name and idea just sits better in my gut. and it'd also be easier to find all my work, cause it'd all be under one name !! and i already have the domain cheyennebarton.com that i'd be able to change my website to. (i should probably make an acting website as some point, but i'll cross that bridge when i get to it lolol)

what do y'all think? i'd love ur thoughts!!

I did this recently too, changed my brand to my name and it just felt right. I wasn’t thinking about it anymore cause it just made sense. I like what other people were suggesting of using your name and using “gentle and ruthless” as a tag line.

Katy

And now what I think: I think you are a very inspirational person! So I think you being your own brand (Cheyenne Barton) would work great!

Esmee Heebing

It really depends on what you want your brand to be. If you want you as a person to be your brand along to everything you make, it makes total sense. Then it isn't just about people liking what you make (so your etsy shop, your art as in how it is an inspiration to people) but also about what you as a person have to say and putting your own face out there. Basically do you want you to be your brand (and everything you make is also you) or do you want your art to be your brand?

Esmee Heebing

I agree with what everyone else has been saying! I think having everything under one name is a good idea, especially because your talents are so varied!! It will probably make it a lot easier for people to associate you with everything (acting, art, design, youtube, etc). I still love 'gentle and ruthless' as maybe a tagline of sorts or something to put in a description/about section, but I think your gut feeling here is good :)

Nikhita Poole

Change it. Keep gentle and ruthless as your motto!!!

Baylie McIntyre

I say, switch to Cheyenne Barton, but keep Gentle and ruthless as more of a motto maybe?

Zeyda Medina

OMG yes I agree too!!! I love her name so much

Handxmade

I think it’s a great idea! Helps people to put your art with your name and yes I agree with Jossette, better to change it when you’re early in the game ☺

Handxmade

I say change it! It’s best to do it now while you’re early in the game than to change it later :)

Jossette

I think using your own name makes more sense and clearly shows what you’re actually doing -whilst gentle and ruthless is good, it doesn’t highlight what you DO. I do think it’s sound business sense for your name should be your brand! But as with all things, don’t overthink it; you’ll wear yourself out! Have a cup of tea and go with your gut feel :)

In terms of brand recognition, having it under your name makes a lot more sense. If you ONLY had the Etsy shop, G&R would be fine, but you’re trying to market YOU and all your various talents.

Brianna Johnson

We talked on Twitter but I just thought it was right to show my support here as well! hahaha It does sounds more logical even though G&R is SO YOU~. Keep shining!

I have always liked gentleandruthless, but feeling as you grow that CheyenneBarton will be an easy way for people to find everything you do, from acting to illustrations, much easier. Good luck, young one<3

Ingela Barton

We of course would support whatever you think is best for your own business Chey ✨ Just curious - are you deleting your gentle and ruthless account and just using your personal one or renaming both?

BreeAnna Poshek

My brother did the exact same thing with his business. He started off with a name then changed it to his own name soon after. Best move be ever made. I think with a business like yours (art/artist) it makes perfect sense to have your name as the “brand”. Whatever you decide though, I’ll support 😊 xoxo

i like both too, and it separates my actor/fine art sides, but i feel like so much of my content (at least across my online platforms) are really starting to merge so i think it'll simplify things. and if i need to get an acting domain, then i can find something that'll work (tho, tbh, i find that websites can be a bit pointless unless ur already p established. and i could always redesign it one day so it's split between acting and illustration if need be). it also means i only need one business card lolol

Abby said exactly what I was going to—that’s pretty much already how I think of you anyway, so it makes perfect sense to me!

Claire

I like both as some people have said, but it definitely makes sense to have it all unified, and would make it easier to find you.

bonepeonies

yay, okay awesome !! haha, i do the same, so i think it'll be a good move. cheers!

cheyenne 🌠

eee thank you !!

cheyenne 🌠

that's exactly what i was thinking — makes everything feel that much closer to home <3

cheyenne 🌠

I like gentleandruthless, but I think it would be pretty neat to just have everything under your name. It just feels more personal to me and I think that fits well with your brand

Falak Ahmed

You have such a beautiful and memorable name; so I agree!

Julie Poulsen

thank you <333

cheyenne 🌠

i find myself referring to you pretty much exclusively as "cheyenne barton" so to me it makes total sense!! though i love gentleandruthless, i think it makes more sense to brand yourself under your name. :-)

Abby Cole

sounds neat! And logical, since it’s your personal talent and not a company you’re working for! So I’d say go for it 🌿
