Animation Progress/Pinup Admission
Added 2017-12-21 02:42:42 +0000 UTCHere's the progress on Ayn's animation. She's always been, first and foremost, a dancer, so I wanted to find an appropriate belly/hip focused dance style to make a simple loop out of. I quite like it so far!
...However, as you may notice, it's Dec. 20th/21st already. I'll be gone a few days for Xmas. I still want to get another comic page done. I have to admit it... there's just not enough time to get this done. I realized that December, being host to MFF, Xmas, me being sick, and whole days lost to travel, sucked WAY too many work hours out of the month to try and learn a whole new animation suite (used CSP, but never tried it for animating before), and un-rust my very rusty 2D skills. It's just too much. I indeed WILL finish this, but it won't be this month. Next month seems way more likely. I haven't even started her boobs, ears, hair, let alone colour it. My stubbornness to create quality animation has been taking its toll, both on my hand, and my time. Being drawn at 10fps, with each drawing at .1 sec, makes a 1.5 sec loop with 15 drawings. I wanted a smooth animation, not these janky 6-frame abominations I see all over the place of crude, bad motion. Quality takes time I guess, and doubly so for animations.
So, that being said, I'm going to pause this, and start, while I still have decent time, to do a proper pinup, or at least what I can. The second-most voted for option was to do Ayn+Rehzi, but I won't take Rehzi's name off the roster like I originally thought. He does deserve his own solo pinup first. It's either that or try a traditional, usual Ayn pinup, or perhaps with Sabir, who knows!

Either way it is impressive, but feed back of a positive manor is the best way to learn.

Not to mention there's still quite a lot of work left to finish this animation as is. I'd say this is good for his practice work in animation. Short and sweet is a good first step. If it were me I would focus on additional stuff like varying faces to get a more natural look in another animation, focus on getting the basics of a loop down first in this one.

Having the kiss/heart happen on each and every single loop throws the animation right into the uncanny valley because it looks incredibly unnatural. If you clone the frames for the hipswing and keep her face normal on the first loop, and the kiss on the second, the viewer has time to adjust to what they're seeing and it makes it look less unnatural. Other than that, this is really, really smooth and I love it!

It's certainly interesting to see one of your characters in motion. Would love to see some of my favourites. But it looks like sooo much work haha.
