Let’s have an honest conversation about clickbait

I think there's a difference between clickbaiting and just being provocative. The goal is to find the line but not step over it. If you can make a catchy thumbnail but deliver on the promise, it isn't clickbait.

2021-11-16 17:24:43 +0000 UTCAs with everything, I believe balance is the key. I have enjoyed every single one of your clips so far. Having said that, I find excessive promotion super annoying. Because I trust you, I would keep watching, but it would be unfortunate to feel I need to sift through your material to get to the good stuff. In the long run people will come back more for your essence than for hype.

2021-11-16 14:00:08 +0000 UTCI watch you due to abscence of major clickbait. Used to watch Jeremy (Financial Education) but cant deal with the 2-5min self promotion and ultra clickbait hype

2021-11-16 13:39:16 +0000 UTCWith over 3K patrons work on not being a tabloid. Now that you are established you don’t need FUD titles. Your content is good so don’t change there. I don’t understand why both you and Meet Kevin do this. I just don’t click on his videos anymore. You are probably financially secure so just make good content. Stop chasing the clicks. Here is a challenge: For one month don’t look at any YouTube metrics such as likes, engagement, bounce rate etc. Look to your patrons for feedback.

2021-11-16 08:53:55 +0000 UTCI think the content is what brought us all here. Not really the clickbaity titles. If it brings the attention to new people to support the channel, by all mean.

2021-11-16 06:27:39 +0000 UTCGraham Stephan is the worst. I unsubbed. Good content but awful clickbait. His friend Andrei too. Just terrible.

2021-11-16 05:38:12 +0000 UTCIn my opinion Tom you don’t clickbait , I really like your breakdowns and appreciate your opinion more than all the others ie meet Kevin . Thank you for all your work and I really enjoy the zoom calls with everyone. Thank you for always being honest 👍🏻

2021-11-16 05:22:55 +0000 UTCIn my opinion, less is more. an occasional title/thumb is great. anything more than rare is too much. I feel the same way about "bla bla mother effing bla" - when it was in every video it got old fast -- but when used on rare occasion(like when Tom is excited about something for example) it is hilarious and perfect.

2021-11-16 04:58:00 +0000 UTCBy the way, happy to see you going back to the six-tier evaluation style in the videos. This I believe helps add subscribers.
Tom Deschenes
2021-11-16 01:55:27 +0000 UTCI think that Clickbait is a turnoff for current subscribers, but loyal followers probably ignore it. If you are not hunting for new subscribers, I do not believe that it is worth who you may lose. Just my opinion.

2021-11-16 01:52:45 +0000 UTCI think it’s counterproductive after a while. If you make a video talk about something interesting and put it in title… must a better and more sustainable way for users to find you. Fairly sure YouTube will start to punish clickbait titles soon if they are not already

2021-11-16 01:44:33 +0000 UTCAt least include more clues of what you will be talking about in the image of the video.

2021-11-15 23:44:08 +0000 UTCJust keep making it a point to acknowledge that it is a necessity and laugh it off so New viewers don’t feel insulted…. And keep up the good content.

2021-11-15 21:28:09 +0000 UTCTom’s click bait titles and thumbnails are just a joke at this point. It doesn’t bother me because Tom knows how to laugh it off. A dumb YouTube using click bait makes me want to watch them even less though.

2021-11-15 21:26:47 +0000 UTCClickbait vids are usually a waste of time, but ocassionally there is one that provides a quality insight like Tom's. Tom you don't need to use catchy titles and shocked faces for me to watch.

2021-11-15 19:50:09 +0000 UTCIn moderation it's okay. But I rather not get that from my favorite YouTuber.

2021-11-15 19:45:58 +0000 UTCWhere’s the link

2021-11-15 19:41:56 +0000 UTCIs there a link for zoom meeting?

2021-11-15 19:05:06 +0000 UTCI think that "clickbaity" titles are cheap moves just like 'hit the like button, subscribe etc'; if you're against one you should be consistent and be against the other. Just my 2 cents

2021-11-15 19:02:12 +0000 UTCMy friend is totally "in love with" StockMoe. It told him to be very cautious, and rather check Tom's channel :)

2021-11-15 18:46:08 +0000 UTCI have no problem with you using "clickbait" type of titles. Personally, I encourage it! It's your business and you gotta maximize profits as best as you can. We all know that at the end of the day, even if your video has a clickbait title, it's still quality content.
joors
2021-11-15 18:21:43 +0000 UTCClickbait titles and thumbnails attract low quality viewers, mostly because clickbait is a curiosity trigger and people who click may not to be really interested about the content

2021-11-15 18:20:04 +0000 UTCI agree Stella, however you are a smart person (because of being here..lol).. I look at it this way; I'm not sub'ed, won't watch, click, comment, etc. because it just pushes their BS content to those viewers not as smart.

2021-11-15 18:17:00 +0000 UTCThis might be Clickbait adjacent, but have you noticed the people pushing you to buy gold just happen to be the same people selling it?
Mo Herbert
2021-11-15 18:13:37 +0000 UTCYeah I stopped watching Moe because half the time in his video is going through the 87 affiliate links to click below. No thorough analysis just reading articles.
Chad Philpott
2021-11-15 18:06:04 +0000 UTCIt doesn’t matter to me! This is how they make there money.. maybe my profession bothers someone else.. everyone in YouTube is giving what they can give.. but you have to have in mind that they are doing there job
Stella Angeli
2021-11-15 18:04:50 +0000 UTC"StockMoe" is pumping crap-coins like there is no Tomorrow!
Daniel Nagy
2021-11-15 18:01:47 +0000 UTCI was a firm believer on them then the Same is happened here, I stopped watching (jeremy, kevin, andre and Graham) all of them in the same category..clickbaiting, misleading info , shit coins and the list is go on.. as always tom says you need to do your own research.
Zaid
2021-11-15 18:01:42 +0000 UTCIf you give the up front conclusion, then clickbait is not awful if it’s a popular topic (like Elon headlines). But if people hide the point until they reach some monetization point, then I unsubscribe.
David Hawkins
2021-11-15 17:57:50 +0000 UTCAs long as you can differentiate the good content from the bad content, you'll be alright...

2021-11-15 17:52:07 +0000 UTCI stopped watching Jeremy completely because it’s annoying, his videos are all filler behind annoying too. Gotta make that 10:01 Ive reduced watching Meet Kevin by 80% for the clickbaitting too. I get that it actually works on sheep but screw em. Kevins also really misleading people with his ignorant misunderstanding of crypto too. His stock analysis is good but hes going to get a lot of people following him on crypto rekt.
