2021-08-27 16:13:33 +0000 UTCRegarding my comments made on Tesla, I want to provide some additional color. I pulled the NHTSA summary information outlining the specifics of the investigation. Here is the link https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/inv/2021/INOA-PE21020-1893.PDF. In summary, the investigation is specific to "first responder scenes" where the Tesla subsequently struck a EMS vehicle (Police/Ambulance/Fire) at nighttime. These were necessarily fatal crash events (1 of the 11 resulted in a fatality) . So NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) is looking into the technologies and methods used to monitor, assist, and enforce the driver's engagement with the dynamic driving task during Autopilot operation. The investigation will additionally assess the OEDR by vehicles when engaged in Autopilot mode, and ODD in which the Autopilot mode is functional. The investigation will also include examination of the contributing circumstances for the confirmed crashes listed below and other similar crashes. To break this down, this is a very specific investigation involving emergency scenes, at night, with autopilot *possibly* engaged. This is not a big deal and I doubt it would negatively effect the stock price or company performance.
