SalesForce (CRM) Alert

Pay attention to SalesForce (CRM). Just 2 weeks ago Salesforce announced that it is in talks to buy Slack, and the definitive agreement was signed a week later for $27 billion, which made it SalesForce's largest deal ever. Immediately after, the share price dropped from $240 to $220 in a single day. Since then it went back up to $227 but still much lower than the $264 level we had just 3 weeks ago. Some analysts came out saying that the deal was expensive and SalesForce overpaid, but I don't think so. The combination of Slack and its customer base with SalesForce products will be extremely valuable for SalesForce and the industry in general. I see a 10%-15% upside in the current share price and I feel that at $227 its a good entry point for a long term investment.

Price dropped more to 217$, do you think we should buy more or wait?

Salesforce is so much more that CRM now. They are a juggernaut in cloud computing and are growing that part of their business, taking on AWS, Azure and other could providers. The war is for the cloud and salesforce has a lot to offer. CRM is their core and they need to ensure they don't lose their leadership in this area so watch this area... and get excited about their cloud R&D...

I haven’t seen it uploaded yet. I know he mentioned he was working on making it into a more plug and chug type sheet that can be used on any company.

Has Tom uploaded the spreadsheet calculating DCF for CRM or anyone knows where i can see/get it?

So many people bashing this but I think it's an absolute match made in heaven. The great thing about slack isn't just its ability to solve complex communication problems, it's also its ability to integrate multiple other domains onto their platform, including project management software, devops platforms, ci/cd etc. It is exactly because it's so operable that makes it so perfect for Salesforce.... Salesforce is great because it offers hr functions at a fraction of the cost of standing up servers and maintaining them in house. It's also great in terms of its huge userbase, something slack is lacking in. But it is extremely weak on speed and UX - the interface is so unintuitive and slow that it's a pain to use. On the other hand, if you can perform a bunch of your normal operations directly using slack, you can program it so that it's a) super simple and b) conversational. The former solves the ux challenge and the latter solves the speed issue - you might not mind it taking a while if it messages back when it's finished. If Salesforce can leave the core of slacks product alone, but deliver a brilliant integration onto the platform, then Salesforce could give slack the userbase it needs, and slack gives Salesforce the customer experience it needs. What that means is cross selling opportunities for Salesforce, and that means VALUE!

Same here, thought it’s a steal. A few hours wiser now.
