Dev Blog: Mini-Update 08/27/2021

Hey everyone, hope your week is going well!

For those who did not see my post here, I was on break for most of last week and had also posted an explanation of what happened the previous week, which was that I spent the entire time helping others with their projects and left me no time to work on my own. This was also why I had no dev blog that week like I had mentioned and hoped to do in my previous dev blog. I apologize for that, and it's one of the many reasons I have decided to cut back and set a schedule instead when it comes to helping other creators. I just have too much WIP on my own plate to keep a random help schedule going, and don't want to disappoint any of you by being continuously distracted. I'm already super behind as is and it's becoming increasingly frustrating not reaching the finishing point of several of these mods.

Anyhow, because of the fact I had very little time to work on anything the past 2 weeks, I don't have much to report in this blog but I should have more by the next one (which I'm estimating in about two weeks, maybe less). 

๐Ÿ“Œ The first thing I wanted to discuss is this object set I was commissioned to update, which I finished earlier this week after my break. It's this Ruin Stairs Seats by Artrui, which was causing weird animation bugs with toddlers for the commissioner. I didn't see anything that could cause it, other than just outdated files, so I remade the files and also updated them for toddlers (you can see the toddler using the seat above, though you can move the seat forward so their back isn't hitting the ledge). The legs are sitting straight like when they are in a regular chair (though slightly lowered) because anytime I adjusted the legs too low the feet would morph weirdly, so this was the only decent way to do it. But I messaged the creator to see if I could publish the fixes publicly, either here or in the comments of the thread, or even if they wanted to re-upload the files themselves, so now we just wait for an answer. Hopefully I will receive permission!

๐Ÿ“Œ Next is that I only have about three things left to do for that Eco blocking commission I mentioned a few posts back. All that's left is blocking the Recycle Disciple snatching interaction, and a few of the phone calls introduced with the EL update. Since I know not everyone wants these options blocked, I am also attempting to add a settings file that people can adjust for themselves rather than an all or nothing situation. The commissioner wants all of it enabled by default, so if you don't want something blocked you will need to edit the the settings file to turn it on. I'll write a mini-tutorial explaining the process, but it will be similar to any other mod that uses a settings file and you edit manually. I will eventually make it so that settings can be changed in-game, but I'm still new to scripting so I opted for faster release rather than spending extra time investigating how that works.

๐Ÿ“Œ And lastly, I'm almost finished with my two UI tutorials about shrinking world icons and setting up for UI editing. Also, Pancake figured out how to change the fonts of the game and I may work on that as a tutorial as well since it's quite simple and shouldn't take me too long to do (and because I want to document the process so I don't forget). I may also bite the bullet and make a The Sims Medieval font mod out of it now rather than later, but I'm debating still. It doesn't seem to be touched much by the updates so it shouldn't be a pain to maintain if I do, thankfully.

๐Ÿ“Œ Oh, I also forgot to mention that I now have the tuning IDs from Kiara's Royalty Mod and her permission, so will be adding them to the arranged marriage mod.
