March 2020 Summary
Added 2020-03-17 17:00:03 +0000 UTCHey guys! I meant to post the last of February's summary in February (of course), but life happened and I didn't get to it. I decided to do it now that things are "kinda" calm around here, as I don't know when I'll have time again after.
Misc
I haven't talked about this anywhere yet but I am now. On the 25th of February, the day after my fiance left to go back to his home state and find us a place to live, my mom suddenly got sick and had to go to the hospital. She had acute diverticulitis and was in the hospital for about a week. She's been home since then on a soft diet recovering, but today we received news that a mass has developed in the spot that was infected and that surgery may very well be required.
With everything going on with the Corona virus, this, and having to move, you can imagine my life is in a frenzy at the moment. We cant stay here as our lease is up at the end of March, we live directly in the big city with no car and infections rising everyday, so surgery now is not optional. We're trying to move faster so that we can get there, settled, and then do the surgery. Everything is riding on this house tour tomorrow (or today, as I set this as a scheduled post) and if all works out, we'll be moving any day now. If not, we have to find another place very quickly or stay another month, but staying is also not an option. I'm doing my best to keep calm and hope for the best, but it's difficult. I hope everyone is safe and healthy, and everything is going well for you!
Current Progress
Because of everything going on I may not get the Bloody Vampire Bites mod released until after we move. Thankfully it is in it's last stages, I am now doing the loots that apply and remove the commodity. Then I just need to inject them into the right areas and test it, but doing so will be slightly tricky. I'm going to do my best to release it before I move though! Other than that I haven't got much work done on anything else, so let's cover a few smaller mods I want to work on once I am done with this one and settled in my new home.
Smaller Future Mods
1) First thing I'm going to do is tackle that Improved Mermaid Transformation mod, again, and this time finally finish it. That mod has been the bane of my existence since I started modding and I will not. let. it. beat. me! If all goes well I should be able to finish it easily now that I know more about modding. Knowing my luck though, something will go wrong, lol. For those new and unaware, I like the transformation mermaids do in CAS with the swirling water better than the weird and boring flip over they do when entering the water. While I don't want to change the animation (especially after learning touching it just breaks the tails), I do want to add that swirling effect. I had previously succeeded in getting it to work upon entering the water, but not exiting. This was back before I didn't know what loots were, how to use the TDESC, etc. so this should be easier now.
2) To go with the above mod I also want to make it possible for mermaids to go up ladders as well. It makes no sense that they can use it to get in and transform, but can't transform back and get out. A horrible oversight from EA as usual. Someone reminded me recently that I needed to work on this as I temporarily forgot, so it's high on my to-do list. I'm hoping I won't run into a mess trying to fix it, but again knowing my luck and how animations work I might, lol.
3) My upcoming biggest "small" mod: Semi-functional ladders and spiral stairs (and as of writing this I just remembered firefighter poles)! Note that I do say "semi" functional, meaning they won't have custom animations. Custom animations are currently not possible for teleport/traveling/walkstyle objects, but maybe one day if my friend ever cracks the system. Chances of that happening before EA releases the ladders/spiral stairs is extremely slim though, so please don't hold out hope for it. Anyhow, this idea was given to me through a recent tweet that circulated from Sim..Mathically? I think that's who it was. He made a concept of a ladder using the elevator animation to teleport up to the next level. I know this is a possible mod and after reading the comments of people saying they didn't mind the teleportation, I thought why not, might as well! So this will be my next project. I'm very excited to do it and I've been resisting the urge to start it as I need to tackle those other two mods first, as well as uploading my website finally and launching the discord (yikes, where have the months gone). I have a lot of work to do!
I have a few other misc things to make that I'm having trouble remembering, but I'll get to them at some point, along with a few other tutorials (include info on No Fade vs object overrides). For now I just want to tackle these 3 as I've been waiting to, then get back to my other large projects (archery and arranged marriages).
Have an awesome day!
