During a battle the Pikeman would thrust the hilt of his weapon into the enemy, and using a magical stone on the rear he would freeze the enemy in place. The enemy now frozen, he would lodge the pointed spear into the enemy and smash the ice encasing them.
The first designs for the pikeman
In the first design concept for the Pikeman, we went for a tribal influence design crossed with modern outerwear. Though the outfit is made of coarse leather, linen, and hemp rope, it can be seen that the overall design resembles modern T-shirt, sneaker, and trousers. Not bad by itself.
However, as the story was developed further, we found this outfit design does not line up perfectly of the characteristic of the Pikeman's character. In the story, the pikeman would be arrogant and distance. Meanwhile, his "sporty" appearance sort of contradicted this. Therefore, we decided to bulldoze the existing design and go for a fresh new one.
The second design revision for the pikeman
The second edition of the Pikeman resembles federal Japanese style. The pike is also redesigned to fit the more gorgeous outfit design. Sadly, this version was not completed by the time we suspended the project and this concept art is the only thing left that remains.
