Chapter 499: A Battle to the Death
Added 2025-06-12 15:09:01 +0000 UTCCharlot parted ways with the fleet. While the fleet opted for the Ferdinand Route, he chose the Christopher Route!
Ordinary warships could not be managed single-handedly, but the Radiant Holy Kingdom was no ordinary vessel. It didn't even require human operation.
Of course, the ship wasn’t entirely devoid of life. Onboard were labyrinth guards, Blood Thralls, and wriggling demons, among other malevolent beings. These entities could function as crew, although they weren’t as skilled as seasoned sailors.
Meanwhile, the fleet of Georgia Hadrian, which had accompanied Charlot’s group for some time, had gathered offshore near the Aggras Archipelago. The fleet successfully traversed the dangerous seas without losing more than a handful of ships.
Georgia Hadrian gazed at the Aggras Sea and exhaled deeply. He had been anxious about encountering Charlot Mecklenburg’s fleet again. He couldn’t fathom how the latter had procured so many ghost ships. Although confident in his fleet’s superiority, he was unwilling to endure the losses of another confrontation.
This fleet was the foundation of the new Second Black Phoenix Dynasty, a cause he couldn’t afford to squander on a meaningless battle.
As Charlot single-handedly piloted the Radiant Holy Kingdom back into the Aggras Sea, Georgia Hadrian was already leading his gathered fleet toward the New Continent.
For him, the New World, a new life, and the rebirth of the Second Black Phoenix Dynasty were close at hand.
Elsewhere, Juno Arthur commanded his fleet into the Ferdinand Route. Standing aboard the Swan Lake, he looked toward another direction and said to Drusineia, “Take command of the Swan Lake in my stead.”
“I’m heading off to join the festivities.”
“This kid thinks he’s the only one who noticed Agmirlas’s weakness. But I’ve seen it too. I just didn’t expect him to bring it up to me.”
“A weakened evil god… The taste must be exquisitely sweet.”
“I’ll be at the banquet soon.”
Drusineia said nothing. She silently retrieved the Bloodfiend and handed it to Juno.
Juno Arthur accepted the Bloodfiend with a smile and said, “You’re my most wonderful little princess.” Transforming into a faint blood-red light, he soared into the sky. As he ascended, he caught sight of another blood-red light rising in parallel. He couldn’t help but laugh. “My dear student, truly a filial son to his father!”
Juno followed Gareth, eager to witness the commotion.
...
After Charlot entered the Aggras Sea aboard the Radiant Holy Kingdom, a new route appeared before him. He smiled faintly and steered the ship confidently forward.
Soon, Charlot encountered the Thirty-Second Labyrinth—the Yishemierlen Palace! Alongside it appeared nearly a thousand ghost ships!
Charlot muttered to himself, “The quality of these ghost ships is abysmal. Not a single Ancient Magic Ghost Warship, nor any Saint rank presence. Does Agmirlas truly have no reserves left?”
He drew forth the Blood Rhinoceros, transforming it into the shape of a flaming lance. Leaping toward the nearest ghost ship, he swiftly wiped out its crew, tossing them into the sea. The ship was quickly labyrinthized under his control.
The Radiant Holy Kingdom now had an escort ship!
However, just minutes later, the newly added escort ship was shattered to pieces after being rammed repeatedly by seven or eight ghost ships.
Fortunately, Charlot managed to clear out another ghost ship in the meantime.
Onboard the Radiant Holy Kingdom, Eumibella opened her eyes, unleashing a piercing white light cannon that struck the Yishemierlen Palace. The palace, formed from the remnants of the evil god, trembled violently as though the earth itself had quaked.
The legendary warship’s lack of a main cannon had long led Charlot to believe it couldn’t fire one. He never bothered to consider upgrading it, thinking it powerful enough. While he could afford to purchase an alchemical cannon, he hadn’t prioritized modifying the Radiant Holy Kingdom, only recently gathering the final three extraordinary artifacts required during his expedition to the Aggras Sea.
It was only now that Charlot realized the legendary warship did indeed possess a main cannon—and a rather formidable one at that.
The radiant white beam pierced through ten ghost ships before hitting the Yishemierlen Palace. All ten ghost ships were reduced to ash.
Countless wraiths suddenly erupted from the Yishemierlen Palace. These wraiths coalesced into thousands of black energy spheres, each trailing dark streaks of light as they hurtled toward the Radiant Holy Kingdom.
A green light surged from the ship, not blocking the black energy but devouring it entirely.
As the two massive entities waged a fierce battle on the ocean’s surface, Charlot darted back and forth across the waves. By now, he had labyrinthized over ten ghost ships. Though battered from relentless attacks by multiple enemy ships, his fleet of ghost ships began to exhibit an air of vitality as the eleventh ship joined their ranks. Ghostly crew members aboard the labyrinthized ships howled into the heavens, their morale surging.
This time, Agmirlas neither recalled the Yishemierlen Palace nor the ghost fleet.
Fighting relentlessly for an entire day and night, Charlot managed to capture fewer than a hundred ghost ships. Facing an onslaught from a fleet ten times his size, even he felt the strain.
As he debated retreating, seven or eight ghost ships attacking him suddenly sank inexplicably. This brief reprieve allowed Charlot to capture eight more ships and mount a minor counterattack.
Charlot sensed something unusual. Every time the battle seemed dire, a few ghost ships mysteriously sank, gradually tilting the tide of the naval engagement in his favor.
By nightfall, under the starlit sky, Charlot found himself commanding over two hundred ghost ships. Though still outnumbered, his fleet could now alternate between offense and defense rather than being perpetually surrounded and besieged.
The Radiant Holy Kingdom and Yishemierlen Palace continued their bombardment into the night. The radiant white light cannon from Eumibella had dimmed, while the Yishemierlen Palace’s wraith artillery showed no sign of depletion.
Charlot glanced back worriedly at his legendary warship, only to witness Eumibella fading away beneath the Radiant Holy Kingdom. As waves churned violently, the legendary warship began to transform, taking the shape of an enormous whale the size of a mountain.
Watching this spectacle, Charlot couldn’t help but mutter, “This thing really is something else!”
A match for the remnants of an evil god—and capable of surpassing it in bizarre ingenuity.
