Charlot glanced at the progress indicator, still feeling an overwhelming sense of endlessness.
He muttered to himself, “Why does it feel like there’s no end to this slaughter?”
The prolonged battles left Charlot with a slight mental fatigue. He became quieter, and his combat moves grew more straightforward and efficient. The intricate techniques he once used had become direct and brutal. Yet these skills, honed through blood and fire, embodied the principle of "great simplicity born of sophistication," achieving seamless perfection.
After finishing off the monsters before him, Charlot put away his twin hand axes and sat down to rest.
Zimourman handed him water and food, also growing less talkative. After a while, he suddenly said, “I’m leaving.”
Charlot nodded without much reaction.
Zimourman spoke softly, “Originally, I intended to hunt monsters alone in this dungeon, so I only prepared enough food and water for myself. With you here, our harvests far exceeded what I could have achieved alone, but the supplies are insufficient to sustain us any longer.”
Only now did Charlot respond, his body radiating satisfaction. He said, “I’ll stay with you until you ascend to the next rank.”
Zimourman smiled faintly, his expression inexplicably captivating, and nodded.
After resting, the two resumed their campaign. Perhaps a day or two later—or maybe two or three days—Zimourman devoured enough Fragments of Divinity to finally ascend to the eighth rank.
Charlot watched as his beautiful teammate strode out through the exit after achieving his breakthrough. Charlot didn’t follow. Instead, he turned deeper into the dungeon, unaware that Zimourman, standing at the exit, threw a flying kiss toward his back.
Every cell in Charlot’s body was thrumming with excitement. His Blood Glory at the eighteenth rank surged to its full intensity as he unleashed a rampant and unrestrained massacre.
No matter what kind of monster it was, one swing of his axe would undoubtedly shatter it.
In just one day, Charlot pushed his kill count past ten thousand. In the days that followed, he advanced at breakneck speed, adding one or two thousand kills each day like a storm of lightning.
Five days later, he encountered several massive monster nests. After fierce and bloody battles, he successfully pushed his kill count beyond twenty thousand.
Charlot himself didn’t notice that his entire body was radiating a faint blood-red glow.
Long ago, to purify his blood energy, Charlot had ceased devouring Life Essence. He had realized that while this method provided rapid progress in the lower and middle ranks, at higher levels, breakthroughs relied not only on the density of blood energy but also on spirituality, comprehension, and understanding of the essence of power.
Impure blood energy, rife with impurities, was a hindrance to the path of cultivation.
However, his overwhelming Blood Glory from slaughtering so many monsters still absorbed the enemies’ life essence. Charlot converted all this energy into Flame Dragon’s Hands, which soared in strength from this wild carnage, reaching a total of eighteen hands.
In battle, each of the eighteen Flame Dragon’s Hands wielded a weapon, enhancing his efficiency far beyond the multiplier of eighteen. After all, the Flame Dragon’s Hands lacked vital points that could be targeted by enemies.
Charlot discarded all loot that wasn’t Fragments of Divinity, Transcendent weapons, Extraordinary runes, Transcendent items, or unidentifiable relics. Everything else was left behind, as the dungeon would eventually undergo Labyrinth Transformation under his influence.
However, after killing more than twenty thousand monsters, Charlot’s advancement slowed again. The dungeon was almost devoid of wandering monsters, leaving only eight large monster nests. Three of these nests contained over a thousand monsters each, making even Charlot feel slightly daunted by the challenge.
Fixing his gaze on one of the nests, Charlot observed it for two days. This particular nest housed an eighteenth-rank monster—a giant spider.
Besides the leader, there were at least sixty or seventy Transcendent-grade spider monsters. The nest was filled with webs, making it particularly troublesome to navigate.
Over the two days Charlot spent patrolling nearby, he killed seventy or eighty spider monsters and made several attempts to lure the leader out. However, the spiders retreated at the slightest disturbance. The dense webbing sealing off paths made the situation increasingly vexing.
Charlot rested his Bloodflame Aura Gun against his hand. This Transcendent firearm, a manifestation of extraordinary abilities, bore a striking resemblance to the Red Viper he was accustomed to using. However, it lacked the extensive attributes of the Red and Blue Viper. The Bloodflame Aura Gun was compatible with both the Bloodburst Technique from the Arthur Clan and the Flame Dragon’s Roaring Bullet from the Adonis Clan. The former ensured an endless supply of blood-energy bullets, while the latter dramatically amplified the bullets' power.
Regardless of rank, compressing a bullet containing the energy equivalent to one’s full strength required a day of sleepless effort. Most Transcendent gunfighters only managed to produce twenty or thirty of these precious bullets in a year. Consequently, they rarely used them, preferring to rely on bullets two or three ranks lower or even physical ammunition for daily combat.
Thanks to his relentless slaughter, Charlot could condense blood-energy bullets at far lower costs. Knowing this opportunity to kill with abandon was rare, he stockpiled a batch of peak-eighteenth-rank blood-energy bullets after refining eighteen Flame Dragon’s Hands.
Though tempted to storm the nest directly, the sight of the obstructive webs made him hesitate. He thought to himself, “Maybe I should try another nest first?”
Just as this thought occurred, a spider monster the size of a house emerged from the nest. Its eight massive legs moved with a scraping sound as it scuttled forward, accompanied by dozens of smaller spider monsters.
It was out scouting.
Charlot’s eyes lit up. The eighteen Flame Dragon’s Hands floated into the air, each holding a Bloodflame Aura Gun.
After experimenting with several weapons, Charlot found that the Bloodflame Aura Gun was best suited for mass slaughter.
The scouting spider had barely stepped out of the nest when it was bombarded by more than ten high-rank blood-energy bullets. Its body erupted in a cascade of blood, and before it could even struggle, its massive form dried out, splitting into several pieces.
The smaller spiders tried to flee in panic, screeching as they scurried back toward the nest. But how could they match the speed of Charlot’s guns?
With twenty hands, including his natural two and the eighteen conjured ones, Charlot unleashed a barrage of gunfire. Within moments, no spider remained alive.
Charlot blew at the barrel of one gun, ready to abandon this nest. After killing a scouting Transcendent spider, there was no way the leader would emerge.
Suddenly, a furious female voice rang out: “Why are you slaughtering my offspring?”
