Chapter 489: The Sage of the Mirror

"Magical weapon!"

Charlot Mecklenburg and Zimourman Axel Robin worked together to defeat a Transcendent beast. This time, after incinerating the creature, they obtained a Transcendent weapon—a two-handed battle axe.

Zimourman pursed his lips slightly and remarked, "Neither of us is suited for this weapon."

Charlot hesitated for a moment before replying, "Actually, I’ve trained in another Beast God Transformation."

Grabbing the two-handed battle axe, he let out a low growl as his body began to morph, transforming into a Redback Bear Warrior. His Bloodfire Combat Energy seamlessly transitioned, maintaining a Tier-3 level. Charlot could feel another Blood Rune forming within him—Frenzy.

In his Redback Bear Warrior form, Charlot now possessed three Blood Runes: Bear Strength, Frenzy, and Killing Intent. Frenzy allowed for a brief outburst of power, boosting combat strength by 20–30%, with corresponding increases in stamina, speed, and strength. However, it also caused overheating of the brain. Surprisingly, when Frenzy and Killing Intent mixed, they could evolve into Ultra Frenzy. In this state, the Redback Bear Warrior’s combat power surged by over 50%, akin to ascending a level, enabling a Tier-3 Transcendent to unleash Tier-4 battle strength.

However, the Ultra Frenzy state placed extreme stress on the body, significantly reducing the duration of combat and risking physical harm if prolonged.

For Charlot, though, this wasn’t much of a concern. His exceptionally high spiritual acuity prevented loss of control, allowing him to end both Frenzy and Ultra Frenzy at will.

Zimourman looked incredulous. It took him a while to shake his head slightly, as if witnessing something unbelievable.

The Transcendent-grade two-handed battle axe, a Tier-1 weapon, had only one property—Sharpness. But in the hands of Charlot, who could transform into a Redback Bear Warrior, it became a devastating weapon. Facing groups of seven or eight monsters, none could last a single strike under his axe. Even two Tier-4 Transcendent beasts were felled in a single blow.

Although Charlot’s Bloodfire Combat Energy was Tier-3 and could barely reach Tier-4 strength with Bear Strength and Ultra Frenzy, his actual combat prowess was a perfect Tier-18—unmatched below the Saint rank. His combat techniques had been refined under the tutelage of Hughes, Julian, and Juno Arthur, resulting in flawless mastery. Weaknesses imperceptible to ordinary low-tier Transcendents were glaring to him, and his expert maneuvers and battle experience made him nearly invincible.

After slaying a monster shrouded in tattered cloth, Charlot glanced at the prompt: 2176/26942.

He muttered under his breath, "Only this much? Not even one-tenth."

Charlot and Zimourman had been fighting in the labyrinthine dungeon for two or three days. At their current pace, it would take them a month to escape. Charlot had noticed, however, that the monsters they encountered were growing stronger. While ordinary creatures still made up the majority, the frequency of encounters with Transcendent beasts was increasing. In a few days, they might face creatures that required grueling battles to defeat—or even monsters that were practically unkillable, forcing them to flee.

"Tier-3 Transcendent is far too weak."

"Even Zimourman’s Tier-6 Transcendent isn’t much stronger than me."

"If I could ditch Zimourman, I could use my Tier-18 strength to easily crush this entire dungeon."

When Zimourman requested another break, Charlot had no choice but to accompany him. They found a spot to rest and recover their strength.

As usual, Zimourman provided food and water. Charlot reverted from his Beast God Transformation, drank some water, ate a little, and secretly practiced Blood Glory. He hadn’t been idle during this period, taking time each day to train Blood Glory. However, progress had slowed significantly after reaching Tier-18.

After a few hours of practice, just as Charlot was about to disperse the Blood Glory state, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his eyes. A new silver rune had condensed. His Infinite Mirror World, which had formed six runes—most recently the Demon of the Mirror—had been stagnant despite his significant investment of Agmirlas Labyrinth pages. Charlot had continued training but held little hope for a breakthrough, so he was shocked when the seventh rune appeared.

The Seventh Infinite Mirror Rune—The Sage of the Mirror.

Sage of the Mirror: A magical lifeform created from endless knowledge. It can use magic, answer various questions, serve as an unparalleled strategist, and even act as a personal tutor.

Charlot was astonished. He hadn’t expected this breakthrough in the Infinite Mirror World to manifest in such a direction!

He secretly conjured a Mirror of Power, and a slight shimmer revealed a voluptuous, alluring woman within. Her revealing magical robes left little to the imagination, exemplifying a “bikini battle robe.”

Charlot was stunned and thought, "Shouldn’t it have been an old man?"

"This sage doesn’t look like a proper one!"

"Or… is it me who isn’t proper?"

"No, that’s impossible. I’m definitely a proper person."

Charlot knew he couldn’t ask Zimourman about this Sage of the Mirror. Why was its gender different? What exactly was going on?

Dispersing the magical mirror, Charlot felt the Sage of the Mirror looked oddly familiar. After a moment, it hit him—the sage bore a striking resemblance to the Lady of the Black Moon.

"How could this be? Why would the sage resemble a goddess? Could it be that the sage I envisioned is like a goddess?"

Charlot recalled the first time he had seen the Lady of the Black Moon. Her appearance was indescribable; words failed to capture her beauty, and no artist’s techniques could do her justice. However, her figure was petite and delicate, while his Sage of the Mirror was curvaceous and seductive. Apart from their facial similarity, everything else—from temperament to posture—was entirely different.

The problem was that Charlot had never entertained sacrilegious thoughts about the goddess.

"This is bad. Very bad."

"Could something be wrong with me? Impossible! Absolutely impossible. I’m not some pervert and have never fantasized about the goddess."

"It must be..."

A chill ran down Charlot’s spine, and he dared not continue the thought.

The silver halo behind him, which had briefly emitted a dangerous aura, began to spin slowly again, almost smugly, as if it had achieved something noteworthy. It spun particularly gleefully, radiating an air of self-satisfaction.

Charlot took a deep breath and reverted to his Redback Bear Warrior form. As Bloodfire Combat Energy surged through his body, he felt a fleeting sense of security.

For the first time, Charlot wondered whether training Blood Glory to its limit would turn him into an evil god—or worse, provoke the wrath of a righteous deity.
