Chapter 488: Inner Arena Seats

The swordsmanship Charlot was most familiar with was, of course, the Angel's Thorn of the Arsilo family. This extraordinary technique had built him an illustrious career, defeating countless formidable foes. However, with Zimourman by his side, Charlot could only resort to the swordsmanship he had learned during his studies at the Behemoth National Academy.

Despite using a more common technique, Charlot's robust foundation in swordsmanship made even an ordinary style come alive with endless variations, radiating an aggressive momentum.

The six-tiered monster was indeed powerful, but Charlot had Eagle Strike, allowing him to launch surprise attacks at any moment and effectively pin the creature down on his own.

Zimourman didn't join the fight against the monster. Instead, he focused on quickly clearing the "minor creatures" with his radiant battle energy. It was immediately apparent that Zimourman had received authentic training in the Radiant Breathing Technique and the Great Radiant Meditation Technique from Royal Hogwarts University, mastering both the refined intricacies of battle energy and the imposing grandeur of meditation-based extraordinary abilities.

Yes, Zimourman Axel Robin was truly a once-in-a-century genius of Royal Hogwarts University.

Having "just advanced" to a fifth-tier Transcendent, Zimourman displayed extraordinary control over his newly acquired strength, far beyond what one would expect of someone who had recently ascended.

Even if an Evil God had arrived, they wouldn’t believe Zimourman was only fifth-tier.

Within minutes, Zimourman had slaughtered over ten monsters, gaining two fragments of divinity.

...

Meanwhile, Charlot, although still handling the situation with ease, found it somewhat challenging to defeat a six-tier monster using only his third-tier Bloodfire Combat Energy. With his extraordinary abilities restricted, Charlot could only rely on Eagle Eye and Eagle Strike, wielding an ordinary sword technique.

Now he understood the vast difference in power that could arise from the variation in extraordinary abilities and weaponry within the same tier.

Had he been using Blood Glory, this monster would have long been defeated.

And with a single extraordinary weapon, he could have easily handled two or three monsters of the same level.

Zimourman, however, did not join the fight immediately. Instead, he performed a few rounds of restorative Radiant Breathing Technique, inspected his weapon, and adjusted his footwear.

Only after this preparation did he give a light shout and join the battle. Zimourman wielded a two-handed broadsword, a style common in the New Continent but contrasting with the rapier popular in the Old Continent. His technique was fiercer and more chaotic. With one calculated strike, he severed one of the monster’s hind legs—a move clearly planned in advance, as his earlier actions weren’t merely resting but observing the monster’s weaknesses.

This creature, a typical quadruped, faced a significant reduction in mobility after losing a leg. Charlot didn’t even need Eagle Strike to outmaneuver it. With his third-tier Bloodfire Combat Energy, Charlot circled behind the monster and dealt a hard slash, severing another hind leg.

With both hind legs severed, the monster could only writhe on the ground, letting out deafening howls. This loss of mobility rendered the creature harmless but made it difficult for Charlot and Zimourman to land their final blows. Both had enough experience to keep their distance. Charlot fired two shots, blinding the monster, while Zimourman pressed two fingers to his forehead. After a moment, both his forehead and fingers shone with radiant light.

Charlot recognized this as a deadly secret technique of the Radiant Sect, shrugged, and stepped back.

As expected, after accumulating enough power, Zimourman unleashed a radiant beam that pierced the monster’s skull. This move took far too long to charge, making it impractical in actual combat. However, it was devastating for stationary targets, rivaling two or three rounds of anti-magic armor-piercing rounds.

The monster's corpse yielded two fragments of divinity and a rune. Zimourman took the divinity fragments and handed the rune to Charlot, saying, “What luck! It’s an orc ability rune. I don’t need it, but you certainly do.”

Charlot didn’t actually need an orc ability. After all, he cultivated Blood Glory, but he still accepted the Blood Rune, inspected it briefly, and absorbed it into his body.

The Blood Rune turned out to be Ferocity, an auxiliary ability not limited by species. Any orc could condense it, meaning Charlot could activate it regardless of what orc form he adopted.

However, Ferocity had limited application. It merely allowed one to intimidate enemies with sheer ferocity, which most mid- to high-tier Transcendents could resist. Even against lower-tier opponents, its impact was minimal.

...

Zimourman remarked, “If we could keep killing like this, wiping out all the monsters in this dungeon, would our strength skyrocket? Could we both ascend to higher tiers?”

Charlot shrugged and replied, “Perhaps.”

“But for now, we need to keep fighting.”

Their prolonged battle with the six-tier monster had drawn the attention of numerous other creatures. As Charlot finished speaking, over a dozen creatures shuffled into view. Realizing they were undead corpses, Charlot switched to his Magnum Mauler, taking down one with each shot. Corpse monsters were easy to kill but disgustingly revolting.

Zimourman set the corpses ablaze but found no loot this time. Unperturbed, he led Charlot to another location. The influx of monsters in their current area was too overwhelming for two "low-tier Transcendents" to handle at once.

The duo ran into two more groups of monsters, all non-Transcendent types, and dispatched them without gaining any treasures.

...

Realizing it was time to recover their strength, they found a secluded corner to rest. Zimourman provided food and water while Charlot carefully wiped down his rapier. The weapon, though decent, was not extraordinary. After slaying dozens of monsters, it was visibly worn. Charlot wondered how much longer it could last.

“If this sword breaks, I’ll have to resort to my throwing knives,” Charlot mused silently.

He had refrained from using all his knives earlier, saving them as backup weapons should his primary one fail. His Throwing Knife Techniques weren’t limited to ranged combat; they were equally effective in close-quarters fighting.

...

After a short rest, the pair re-entered battle. Charlot failed to notice the faint silver halo forming on his back, within which a silver serpent seemed to slither and dance, delighted like a concertgoer in the front row.

The duo fought seven or eight more battles, during which Zimourman gathered enough fragments of divinity to advance, breaking through to the sixth tier.

Charlot, meanwhile, relied on steady cultivation of his Bloodfire Combat Energy. Though his advancement as a high-tier Transcendent progressed faster than most, it was no match for the rapid gains afforded by consuming fragments of divinity. While he felt a tinge of envy, he didn’t dwell on it.
