Chapter 469: About to Begin the Challenge of the Evil God

For sailors journeying from the Old Continent to the New Continent, arriving at the Aggras Sea brought a collective sigh of relief. It signified that the New Continent was near, and they could take a break to replenish fresh water and rest for a while.
For sailors returning from the New Continent to the Old Continent, the Aggras Sea offered a similar reprieve, but their emotions were markedly different. Arriving here meant a long and arduous journey still lay ahead, their final destination far from sight.
Though beautiful, the Aggras Sea was far from safe. Among the thirty-six great Evil Gods of the New Continent, three resided in this region. Besides Labyrinth God Agmirlas, there were two others whose reputations and cruelty rivaled his.
With over ten thousand islands, the Aggras Sea was a perilous place, and only twenty or thirty of those islands were inhabited by humans due to the dangers. Additionally, there were only two relatively safe sea routes: the Christopher Route and the Ferdinand Route.
The Christopher Route was established by the legendary navigator Christopher on his first voyage to the New Continent. The Ferdinand Route was pioneered by the first sailor to successfully travel to the New Continent and return to the Old Continent.
All inhabited islands lay along these two routes.
Charlot released a flock of seabirds, severing his connection to them immediately afterward. Bereft of their master's Evil God power, the birds would instinctively seek out the source of such power. In the Aggras Sea, the only such source was Agmirlas.
Watching the flock take flight, Charlot ordered his fleet to enter the Aggras Sea, initially following the Christopher Route. However, the birds soon deviated from the route.
Charlot hesitated briefly before commanding the fleet to follow them.
Once off the main route, the fleet’s atmosphere grew tense.
This expedition was undertaken purely for Charlot’s private objective, neither for wealth nor glory. If not for his unparalleled control over the fleet, internal conflicts would have erupted long ago, potentially causing mutiny.
On the second day in the Aggras Sea, a thick fog blanketed the ocean.
Charlot released another group of seabirds and used the same method to guide the fleet, ensuring their direction remained accurate. Still, he grew uneasy. If they failed to locate the true Agmirlas Labyrinth, he would have no choice but to head to the Evil God’s Arena. That location was unquestionably more perilous than confronting Agmirlas, possibly forcing him to fight alone without the support of his nine Saint-rank allies.
His fleet consisted of one legendary warship and seven magical alchemical warships. Even during the two great naval battles fought in the Giant Whale Sea by the Four-Nation Alliance, such a force could have tipped the scales decisively.
No fleet heading to the New Continent had ever possessed such strength.
After all, most magical alchemical warships were under the control of the Five Great Empires. Even the most infamous pirate lords rarely wielded such formidable power.
Well, except for the Old Goat.
If he lost the support of this fleet, Charlot’s chances of surviving the coming ordeal would drop significantly.
Navigating through fog required extensive experience. To ensure the fleet’s safety, Charlot ordered the massive Dolmabahçe to fall back and had the smaller magical alchemical warship Golden Ram lead the way under the command of Herolf.
As night fell and visibility worsened, Charlot ordered the fleet to reduce speed to avoid hitting any hidden reefs. He also assigned shifts to dozens of extraordinary individuals with exploration abilities to maintain safety during the journey.
Restless and unable to sleep in his quarters, Charlot turned to his journal, leafing through entries like The Agmirlas Labyrinth, Vampiric Scroll II, and The Radiant Holy Kingdom's Navigation Log. Yet, he failed to uncover any previously overlooked details.
At dawn’s first light, Charlot donned his coat and stepped out onto the Emperor Suite’s balcony. Gazing at the tranquil sea, he muttered to himself, “Since transmigrating here, I’ve been through countless adventures I could never have imagined. But if given the choice, I’d rather spend an uneventful life with Annie.”
Charlot prayed silently to the Serpent of Fate, “Master of the River of Time, Knower of All Mysteries, Arbiter of Extraordinary Rituals! Please guide me.”
“I’ve long failed to please You, but if I return safely, I’ll build a temple to You in every city of the Mecklenburg territory.”
For a while, Charlot’s prayer was met with silence. Believing the Serpent’s power couldn’t reach the Aggras Sea, he felt a pang of disappointment and looked up at the sky.
What he saw next was beyond belief.
High above, clouds swirled and shifted, forming the tail of a silver serpent that extended downward. The fog ahead of the fleet dissipated as if drawn away by a mysterious force.
The path ahead was crystal clear, revealing a massive island. The entire island was shaped like a palace, grand and awe-inspiring.
Simultaneously, a voice resonated: Charlot Mecklenburg has arrived at the true Agmirlas Labyrinth. The first labyrinth lies ahead—the Golden Ram Palace!
Charlot stared at the scene and exclaimed, “Isn’t that Saint Michael Island? How could it be the first labyrinth?”
Leaping from the balcony, Charlot dashed to the meeting room and used magical communication to summon all the Saint-rank members for a meeting.
Within minutes, the Saints gathered aboard the Dolmabahçe. Herolf’s expression was conflicted, tinged with doubt and unease.
Charlot addressed them, “We’ve reached the true Agmirlas Labyrinth. The first labyrinth is the Golden Ram Palace.”
“Once we complete this Evil God challenge, we can return to the Mecklenburg Duchy and enjoy lasting peace.”
“Now, who will join me in exploring the labyrinth?”
The Old Goat was the first to step forward. “I’ll go with you.”
Andreas added, “I’ll join you as well.”
Charlot nodded. “The two of you will suffice.”
Given that the Agmirlas Labyrinth contained ninety-nine trials, the first labyrinth, Golden Ram Palace, was unlikely to pose much danger. A larger group wasn’t necessary, and in a true emergency, Juno could intervene.
