Chapter 466: Charlot Mecklenburg, I Can’t Take It Anymore, I’m About to Rot
Added 2025-05-26 15:06:01 +0000 UTCCharlot quietly released the Radiant Holy Kingdom without employing the usual crude method of throwing it. Instead, he let the legendary warship emerge silently on the water’s surface, avoiding any major commotion.
Charlot initially thought only Andreas would appear, but unexpectedly, over a hundred individuals emerged from the eight warships.
Shaking his head, Charlot decided to focus on cultivation and get some rest.
...
The next morning, Charlot awoke to a strange atmosphere. The Dolmabahçe was unusually quiet.
Getting up and dressing, he stepped onto the deck and found the Radiant Holy Kingdom abuzz with activity. Not only Andreas but at least half of the fleet’s officers had gathered aboard.
This unexpected development made Charlot shrug. Summoning a labyrinth guard, he had a document delivered to Georgia Hadrian on Solomon Island. Afterward, he returned to his room, ordered breakfast, ate, and began a new day of cultivation.
Currently at the eighteenth rank, Charlot was at the peak of high-rank transcendence, only a step away from reaching the Saint rank. Eager to break through, he had been doubling his cultivation efforts.
...
By noon, the labyrinth guard returned—or rather, what returned was a massive beast’s head, with the rest missing entirely.
The Black Phoenix messenger delivering the reply, though visibly trembling, held his head high with a resolute look of defiance.
Charlot, not wanting to trouble the messenger further, allowed him to leave.
Georgia Hadrian's message was clear: a battle between the two sides was inevitable, with no room for negotiation.
Charlot, though reluctant to fight, recognized Georgia Hadrian’s resolute stance and began strategizing for victory.
Each side had its own advantages. Charlot’s strengths lay in the Radiant Holy Kingdom, the Dolmabahçe, and Juno Arthur. Georgia Hadrian, on the other hand, possessed immense personal power, fifteen alchemical warships, and far more Saint-rank allies than Charlot.
Once commanding dozens of Saints, Georgia Hadrian had since gained the allegiance of many Black Phoenix nobles, amassing over seventy Saints. While not all accompanied him, the forty to fifty Saints on Solomon Island alone exceeded Charlot’s forces.
...
After dismissing the messenger, Charlot immediately convened a meeting with his subordinates.
Many officers, dragged over from the Radiant Holy Kingdom, appeared distracted—especially Andreas and Herolf, who seemed engrossed in “educational endeavors.” Charlot’s repeated inquiries were met with silence.
Helpless, Charlot reminded them that Georgia Hadrian had killed their messenger and could attack at any time. He then announced plans to reclaim the Radiant Holy Kingdom to prevent its misuse.
The meeting concluded without significant resolutions. Charlot ordered all fleet officers to disembark the Radiant Holy Kingdom, preparing to reclaim the legendary warship.
As the officers left the ship, Charlot suddenly felt a warmth emanating from his diary.
Pulling it out, he found it had flipped on its own to the Radiant Holy Kingdom’s Nautical Log, displaying lines of text:
“Father, you planted the Ancient Gomodoro Tree on Mother. It’s driving her mad.
“Please drive the Ancient Gomodoro Tree away.
“It has started propagating its sinful offspring. If you don’t act soon, the Radiant Holy Kingdom will be overrun with Wriggling Demons and Great Wriggling Demons!”
Charlot paused in surprise and asked, “Are those blue giants called Great Wriggling Demons?”
Amon, seeming caught off guard, hesitated briefly before replying in writing: “Yes. Those capable of perfect containment are Great Wriggling Demons.”
Charlot, intrigued by Amon’s knowledge of the Ancient Gomodoro Tree, eagerly inquired, “What’s the origin of this ancient tree? What’s the difference between Wriggling Demons and Great Wriggling Demons?”
After a moment of silence, Amon patiently responded:
“The Ancient Gomodoro Tree is unique—there is only one in existence.
“All other trees of its kind are merely its avatars or extensions, essentially a part of itself.
“It sought to become the Goddess of Fertility, but the world already has such a deity. Unable to ascend, it met with disgraceful failure.
“It is a fallen Evil God, and the Wriggling Demons it creates are tools designed to contain the consciousness of other beings.
“However, while Wriggling Demons can mimic their hosts, they suffer from significant flaws: short lifespans of only a few decades and limited power, maxing out at second or third transcendent rank.
“Great Wriggling Demons, on the other hand, are perfected creations. They can flawlessly contain other consciousnesses and have extremely long lifespans.”
Amon continued to reveal shocking secrets:
“The people you brought back are remnants of the Sherlock Dynasty. During their transfer, they lost parts of their memories and no longer remember their origins.”
Charlot, though skeptical of Amon’s complete honesty, considered the information partially credible. The Ancient Gomodoro Tree indeed seemed sinister.
Pondering the potential of Wriggling Demons, Charlot mused, “If these creatures can transfer consciousness, I could collect a batch. Severely injured soldiers, those beyond recovery, or even the dying could have their minds transferred into Wriggling Demons or Great Wriggling Demons, allowing them to live in another form.”
Despite the flaws Amon mentioned, Charlot saw merit in this solution for irreparable injuries. Even if memories were lost, it was a better alternative for those at death’s door.
...
As Charlot considered this, a sudden mental outburst jolted through his mind:
“Charlot Mecklenburg! Charlot Mecklenburg! Charlot Mecklenburg...
“Get rid of that abomination!
“I refuse to share the same ship with that thing! It has rooted itself in me and is reproducing its disgusting offspring.
“I can’t take it anymore—I’m about to rot!”
