Chapter 458: Do You Have a Ship to Take Us Away?
Added 2025-05-22 15:08:01 +0000 UTCThe sheer size of the swarm of insects was staggering. Even after several minutes of being consumed by the Insect Bag, the swarm seemed undiminished.
Charlot Mecklenburg now understood why the giants of the Blue Sky Tribe were so terrified of this swarm. Once their numbers reached a critical point, the swarm could unleash power exceeding that of the Saint rank.
Now he finally realized how these queen bees could command a legendary warship.
...
Suddenly, the swarm erupted with a piercing screech, unleashing a force that forcibly expelled the Insect Bag.
Charlot quickly extended his hand to retrieve the mysterious artifact, hesitating to use it again against the queen bees. The swarm above had clearly taken notice.
The swarm momentarily stalled in the air before an overwhelming force, like a landslide or an earthquake, descended from the sky. The Ancient Gomodoro Tree emitted a faint glow, shielding the area it encompassed. However, outside its protection, trees, rocks, and sand on the ground were stirred violently as if by an invisible hand, creating a scene of apocalyptic destruction.
Even the three Saint-rank individuals accompanying Charlot turned pale. The sheer power unleashed by the swarm defied all logic and was utterly terrifying.
After the swarm's devastating strike, countless queen bees rearranged themselves, forming a "new swarm." Moments later, a meteor-like rain of fire descended, unleashing fireballs that scorched the earth, leaving craters of varying depths in their wake.
The swarm shifted its formation seven or eight times within seconds, unleashing six or seven types of attacks. Thanks to the Ancient Gomodoro Tree's protection, the Blue Sky Tribe avoided any direct harm. However, the land around the ancient tree looked as though it had been ravaged by a malevolent deity, a sight too horrific to bear.
The swarm circled the sky for a time before abruptly vanishing as if it had never existed.
...
The giants of the Blue Sky Tribe finally emerged cautiously from under the Ancient Gomodoro Tree, their faces pale with lingering fear. Singelina curiously asked, "What artifact did you just use to capture so many queen bees?"
Charlot smiled faintly and replied, "It’s a secret treasure called the Insect Bag."
Singelina’s eyes sparkled with envy. "If we had an Insect Bag, we wouldn’t fear the queen bee swarm. They’re too terrifying, even worse than the Lingmo."
Charlot couldn’t help but ask, "Besides the Wriggling Demons and queen bees, are there other dangers on Solomon Island?"
Singelina nodded solemnly. "Of course. This island is home to dozens of threats. The Wriggling Demons and queen bee swarms aren’t even the most dangerous. There are far worse things..."
She suddenly shivered in terror. "We’ve lost countless members of our tribe to those horrors."
"Our tribe once numbered in the tens of thousands, but now, so few of us remain."
"Do you have a ship that could take us away?"
"We no longer wish to live on Solomon Island."
Charlot smiled faintly. "Of course."
"My ship is large enough to accommodate all of you."
"However, there’s a small issue. You look quite different from us. It might frighten my crew."
Singelina whispered, "We could hide in the corners of your ship and survive on the smallest amount of food and water."
Charlot shook his head. "How could I allow that? You treated us as guests, and I cannot treat friends so poorly. I possess a secret technique known as the Beast God Transformation."
"This technique will allow you to take human form."
"That way, everyone will be happy."
Singelina was stunned. "Are you willing to share such a precious secret technique with the Blue Sky Tribe?"
Charlot nodded. "Of course. After all, we’re friends."
...
He activated the Mirror of Power, producing a stack of illustrations.
These were illustrations Charlot had commissioned for novels. The artistic techniques of this world lagged behind those of classical Europe, with many styles yet to be invented. Though Charlot couldn’t draw himself, he had seen countless anime illustrations and passed these techniques on to the artists he hired, resulting in a collection of beautiful and refined artwork.
Charlot distributed these illustrations to all the blue giants and began teaching them the Beast God Transformation.
Andreas couldn’t help but comment, "Charlot certainly loves spreading this extraordinary technique."
Argon replied, "I think Mr. Mecklenburg’s efforts are thoughtful and practical. By enabling beastfolk to transform into humans and humans into beastfolk, conflicts between the two would cease to exist."
"At that point, there would be no beastfolk or humans—only people with the ability to shift between forms."
"No matter how you look at it, this approach resolves the root of the problem."
Andreas sneered. "That’s impossible! For everyone to transform into beastfolk or humans would require the entire world to possess extraordinary abilities. Even though the Beast God Transformation only allows for a first-tier extraordinary form, it’s still extraordinary! Do you think this world could have universal extraordinary abilities?"
"If Charlot could achieve such a thing, unifying the Old and New Continents would be as simple as flipping a hand."
Argon sighed. He knew Andreas was right. Universal extraordinary abilities were a pipe dream. Even if only one percent—or even one-thousandth—of the population became extraordinary, it would still be nearly impossible.
"But it’s a direction worth pursuing," he murmured softly.
Andreas fell silent. Though he remained skeptical, he sympathized with the plight of the beastfolk, particularly those far removed from regions like Black Phoenix and the Southern Continent. He finally said, "I also hope Charlot succeeds."
...
No sooner had the words left his mouth than Singelina’s body began to emit a faint glow. Before their eyes, she transformed into an extraordinarily beautiful young woman with impossibly long legs, a graceful figure, and a delicate face. Andreas was momentarily stunned, his throat dry.
Even Charlot was taken aback by Singelina’s innate talent for the Beast God Transformation. Her cultivation speed rivaled that of a Saint. Only Antonio had achieved similar results with this technique.
When the elderly female giant transformed into a mature, elegant, and strikingly beautiful woman, Charlot’s earlier suspicion solidified: "Lingmo! These blue giants are the same as the monsters we encountered. They are Lingmo."
"Singelina mentioned the Wriggling Demons could mimic others’ forms. Their aptitude for the Beast God Transformation must be a racial trait. They are one and the same."
"What exactly is Solomon Island? Why does it harbor so many bizarre entities?"
