Chapter 456: The Blue Sky Tribe, Sole Inhabitants of Solomon Island

Andreas shrugged and replied, “Do they think we’ll be scared of these bows and arrows?”
Unless these were extraordinary bows, ordinary ones lacked the power of even standard firearms. They wouldn’t pose a threat to a Saint rank combatant, or even to a typical Transcendent, who could use energy barriers to deflect such attacks.
The female blue giant, clearly irritated, fired an arrow that landed at the feet of the group, a clear warning.
Charlot, who had no qualms about slaying monsters, was less inclined to harm intelligent beings. Moreover, it was obvious these blue giants were not particularly belligerent. They were merely reacting to the intrusion into their territory.
Naturally, Charlot did not harbor high expectations of these blue giants’ level of civilization.
Speaking loudly in Sherlockian, Charlot said, “We are passing adventurers with no hostility. While laying down our weapons is out of the question, we are willing to communicate amicably.”
The female blue giant was surprised to hear Charlot speaking her language. She responded, “This is our territory. Outsiders are not welcome.”
Charlot smiled faintly and replied, “You must be short on outside supplies here on the island, such as weapons!”
“We are willing to gift you some metal-forged weapons in exchange for the status of guests.”
The blue giants wielded bows that were essentially bent tree branches tied with strings, their power unimpressive. The arrows were crudely made, without even iron tips, merely sharpened hardwood. Some carried spears, a few of which had metal tips, though these were rusted and clearly passed down for generations.
It was evident that this tribe had retained some semblance of civilization but had long been isolated from more developed societies.
Charlot’s words piqued the interest of the blue giants. Drawing his Blood Rose rapier, Charlot made a casual flick, slicing a nearby sapling into sixteen or seventeen pieces. Such swordsmanship, even in the martial world, could be considered grandmaster-level.
However, what impressed the blue giants was not his exquisite skill but the sharpness of the Blood Rose.
The female blue giant declared, “If you are willing to give us five metal weapons, we will consider you our guests.”
Charlot smiled again, opened a magical mirror with a wave of his left hand, and retrieved five rapiers. He tossed them casually to the female blue giant.
These blue giants were straightforward in nature. Once they received the five rapiers, they quickly regarded Charlot and his companions as friends. The female blue giant, clearly delighted, kept one rapier for herself and distributed the other four among her group. She then introduced herself, saying, “I am Singelina, daughter of the Blue Sky Tribe’s chieftain. We are the only inhabitants of Solomon Island, and it has been a long time since any outsiders came here.”
“On behalf of the Blue Sky Tribe, I welcome you!”
“You are now guests of the Blue Sky Tribe.”
Argon, a beastman, and Gareth, whose memory was almost entirely unreliable, remained silent. However, Andreas, a noble scion who had studied at the Black Phoenix University, spoke up. Though his Sherlockian was far from fluent, he managed to ask loudly, “We were just attacked by some kind of monster. Do you know what they are?”
Singelina’s face immediately showed worry and fear. She exclaimed, “That is the Lingmo!”
“We must hurry. Once we are back in the village, we’ll be safe from them.”
Andreas was about to argue that they didn’t fear the Lingmo, even without the village, but Charlot smiled faintly and said, “Very well. We will follow you.”
The blue giants, having accepted the gifts, no longer mentioned disarming their guests. Moreover, Charlot and his companions did not appear heavily armed. Though Charlot carried only the alchemical pistol Withered Rose, he had at least ten other weapons concealed on him, and he could summon even more through the Infinite Mirror World.
As for the other three Saints, even Charlot didn’t know how many weapons they carried. Argon, for instance, likely possessed a Saint-ranked Dragon Hammer.
As Singelina led the group hastily through the forest, she explained, “The Wriggling Demons are terrifying creatures on this island. Each one is equivalent to a Transcendent and can mimic our appearances, transforming into our likeness.”
“Fortunately, our Blue Sky Tribe has developed methods over the years to distinguish the Lingmo. Otherwise, they would infiltrate our tribe by mimicking us.”
Charlot was intrigued and asked, “These Wriggling Demons can shapeshift? How intelligent are they?”
Singelina replied, “In their original forms, Wriggling Demons are savage and violent, impossible to communicate with. However, once they transform into us, their behavior and mannerisms are nearly indistinguishable from ours.”
“They must have considerable intelligence…”
Charlot pondered for a moment and thought to himself, Doesn’t this mean...
These blue giants and Wriggling Demons are practically indistinguishable?
He asked, “How do you identify the Wriggling Demons that have taken your form?”
Singelina answered, “They lack gender!”
Charlot glanced at the blue giants and couldn’t help thinking of an irreverent detail. He mused, The Wriggling Demons can’t mimic gender because they’ve never seen it...
Perhaps if they had seen it, they could transform perfectly.
It’s a pity I didn’t bring certain educational films from my previous world. Otherwise, these Wriggling Demons might become esteemed teachers in this one!
After running for over an hour with the blue giants, Charlot and his companions reached a colossal tree. The trunk spanned over ten acres, with numerous aerial roots descending from its branches to anchor it to the ground, creating a canopy-like structure.
Beneath the tree, there were hundreds of blue giants, including a dozen children. Even these young ones were nearly as tall as an average human man, their bodies lithe. They leapt nimbly through the tree’s branches, displaying agility akin to humans who had just mastered the Swiftstep Technique.
The children rushed to greet Singelina’s group, their eyes brimming with curiosity as they noticed Charlot and his companions.
Charlot immediately retrieved over a dozen Magnum Maulers from his magical mirror, distributing them among the children. He included a box of bullets for each and demonstrated how to load and fire them.
By the time they reached the base of the giant tree with Singelina, Charlot had already won over the group of blue giant children.
