Chapter 454: Their Responses Became Predictable

“You know, all the evil gods whose names are known have lost control,” Juno Arthur said.

“Even those whom we honored with the title of Great Philosopher transformed into incomprehensible, unimaginable, indescribable beings after stepping into the divine ranks.”

“No one knows why this happens.”

There is a blurry line between the Saint rank and the Divine rank, but no one dares cross it lightly. Those who summon the courage to do so never meet a good end.

Charlot Mecklenburg felt a chill run down his spine. He asked tentatively, “What about the Blood Ancestors of the vampires?”

Juno Arthur responded calmly, “I don’t know what they have become, but they certainly haven’t retained their original sanity. Although they seem to be able to think and communicate, their responses have become predictable.”

“Life is something inherently uncertain.”

“A foolish person can succeed through effort, a smart person may suddenly make incredibly stupid decisions, an honest person might erupt in fury and become fierce, a cowardly person could become brave to protect something they hold dear, and even the most despicable and shameless person has something they won’t sell…”

“Life doesn’t always react the same way to the same things. For instance, if a junior vampire repeatedly questioned me about a particular technique, I would lose patience, kick them out, and refuse to answer again.”

“But the Blood Ancestors…”

“Their responses have become predictable!?”

“Do you realize how terrifying that is?” Juno’s gaze grew intense.

“It means they have lost their thoughts, their capacity to think, and their wisdom.”

Charlot suddenly thought of AI, which sent a chill through him, though he knew this world could never produce something like that. It could, however, produce something far worse.

While Charlot didn’t know exactly what the evil gods had become, he knew they had certainly lost control over themselves. He mused silently, “No wonder every time I interact with an evil god, I feel as though something has been erased from them, turning them into objects rather than living beings.”

“They become angry, but their anger feels… misplaced.”

“And my diary…”

“…also exhibits strange contradictions, filled with inexplicable anomalies.”

Juno smiled faintly. “Thank you for giving me the opportunity to encounter Omibera. It corrected many of my misconceptions.”

Charlot wanted to ask what Juno had done to Omibera, but in the end, he held back.

He raised his hand and recalled the Radiant Holy Kingdom, a legendary warship. Juno suddenly remarked, “It’s not complete. Try not to use it in battle unless necessary.”

“Even if you have the opportunity to fully repair it in the future, you must still be cautious!”

“Evil gods are always unfathomable entities.”

“There’s one more thing. I’m not entirely certain, but Omibera seems to have undergone new mutations!”

“If one day, you notice signs of it breaking free or exhibiting other abnormalities, abandon it immediately and flee as far as you can!”

“The Radiant Holy Kingdom was never meant to exist in this world.”

“I don’t know who created it or how they did it, but it was never meant to be here.”

Charlot suddenly remembered the Serpent of Fate. He knew that it was only with the Serpent of Fate’s assistance that Saint Michael Island was able to construct this legendary warship. If Juno claimed it should not exist in this world, it was likely true.

Without the help of one of the true gods, the Serpent of Fate, it indeed should not have come into being. It would have been utterly impossible.

Charlot recalled the Log of the Radiant Holy Kingdom, which recorded that this legendary warship had once ventured into the Furious Sea and encountered the deep-sea leviathan Akras. That encounter had left it in its current state. He suddenly thought of the northern fleet of the Mesu family, which had also ventured into the Furious Sea and suffered heavy losses.

He couldn’t help but wonder, “What exactly is in the Furious Sea that could attract both the old king and the Mesu Duchess to explore it?”

“Perhaps one day, I should visit the Furious Sea to witness its mysteries myself?”

The thought surfaced for barely a second before Charlot immediately dismissed it. “What Furious Sea? You’d have to be mad to go there! If I can resolve the crisis of the evil gods, I will never involve myself in another dangerous event. I’ll stay safely in the Mecklenburg Duchy, living a quiet life with Annie.”

Charlot’s expression grew distant, and he snapped back to reality, exiting Juno’s dreamscape.

Juno took a sip of coffee and smiled faintly. “Today was very enlightening!”

“Charlot, you are my best student, bar none!”

Charlot was about to offer a humble reply when Juno abruptly changed the topic, speaking in a low voice. “After you’ve been married to Annie for a few decades, and your beloved begins to age or approaches death, have you ever thought about turning her into a long-living species?”

Charlot was about to answer, but Juno cut him off. “Don’t answer me. That’s a question that requires long contemplation. At least a few decades of thought before you might reach the right answer.”

Charlot took a deep breath. “I’ll consider it.”

He glanced at the beautiful blood thrall in the room.

Juno Arthur possessed three such blood thralls, each a stunning beauty, graceful and dignified, exuding an air of nobility.

Unable to resist, Charlot asked, “I recently acquired a blood thrall, but the process of training them is progressing very slowly. Do you have any tips to share, teacher?”

Juno shook his head. He had, of course, seen that blood thrall. It was no ordinary individual—its name was well-known. Gareth Mossred, the brother of Duke Mosred, was a renowned powerhouse on the Old Continent.

Though not as strong as Juno himself, Gareth ranked among the top twenty experts across the nations of the Old Continent.

Juno casually asked how Charlot had managed to acquire “this fine specimen.”

Charlot recounted the battle in detail. Juno listened with great interest and finally commented, “So Antonio ascended to the 24th rank because he earned the favor of the Lady of the Black Moon. He is quite fortunate.”

“The Bretagne family father and son are truly blessed with extraordinary luck. It’s no wonder they are favored by the Serpent of Fate.”

Charlot reflected briefly and realized he, too, was a recipient of the Serpent of Fate’s favor. “I suppose I’m pretty fortunate as well,” he muttered.

Juno chuckled. “More than fortunate!”

“If envy could be turned into spears, you would be riddled with holes by now.”

Charlot quickly interjected, “I don’t think I’m all that enviable.”

“For instance…”

“For instance…”

“For instance…”

Juno couldn’t help but laugh again. “If you keep listing examples, I might just spear you myself.”

“You truly are a lucky fellow.”
