Chapter 433: The Demonic Gun—King Slayer!

Charlot Mecklenburg bid farewell to Homonsa and couldn't resist taking out the Firequell Silver Rhino, a legendary alchemical pistol. It was a weapon renowned across the continent, often called the Demonic Gun—King Slayer.

This pistol had once killed Grand Duke Ferdinand and his wife, and its murderous history didn't end there. It had also taken the life of Jonan, the leader of the South Seraph restorationists.

Moreover, it had struck down the usurper Emperor Redmir Axel.

Even Ebner Soumet had borrowed it to eliminate the false Empress.

Charlot himself didn't know the name of the "Empress," but to have been the wife of Prince Redmir Axel, she couldn't have been an ordinary woman. Tragically, she had even personally baked a hazelnut cake to celebrate her husband’s ascension to the throne...

Her story was a tragedy.

Interestingly, this alchemical pistol had a sister weapon that had almost killed Charlot Mecklenburg several times. Nevertheless, to Charlot, both of these Silver Rhinos could be considered his lucky guns.

Together with the Anti-Space Long-Range Rifle he had obtained from Baron Leo, these extraordinary firearms had served Charlot Mecklenburg well, helping him slay countless formidable enemies.

Even though Charlot now used the Red and Blue Vipers, he still had a special fondness for these extraordinary guns.

After putting away the Firequell Silver Rhino, Charlot retrieved the Anti-Space Long-Range Rifle. He had promised Homonsa to present a wedding gift to her and Dubin Alger, and this extraordinary rifle was an excellent choice. Although he also owned a Byron Ultra-Long-Range Alchemical Repeating Rifle, its ammunition—anti-magic armor-piercing rounds—was prohibitively expensive at 1.5 gold écus per shot. The extraordinary rifle, on the other hand, was more suitable for the couple.

Charlot carefully polished the rifle with a cloth, disassembling parts of it to reapply lubricant. After some hesitation, he sent someone to purchase a long gift box and two boxes of anti-magic armor-piercing rounds.

Charlot primarily fought solo, so despite the many enemies he had vanquished, the box of 120 rounds he had received from Grandma Saint Karen was still not exhausted. Of the two new boxes, one would serve as a gift for Dubin and his wife, while the other would replenish Charlot’s own supply. Although these rounds were quite expensive, Charlot's wealth made him indifferent to the cost of a few hundred écus.

After preparing the gift, Charlot planned to deliver it with Annie Mecklenburg at Dubin's wedding.

...

The noise outside grew louder, signaling a party that could last until dawn.

Charlot waited for a while until a new carriage arrived at No. 1 Falcon Street. It was Annie Mecklenburg, returning from the palace. Charlot quickly went to greet her, and after briefly mingling with the other guests, the two left the Lukavaro District's city patrol guard office.

As Charlot exited the main gate, he glanced across the street. Opposite No. 1 Falcon Street was No. 2, which had once been his office. It now served as the Administrative Bureau for the Lukavaro District. Charlot knew he was unlikely to visit either location again, for his appearances there would no longer be as an official but as a supervisor.

Seeing Annie in good spirits, Charlot asked, "Where shall we go today?"

Annie smiled brightly and replied, "To my ducal residence!"

Charlot smiled faintly. "Excellent. I haven’t been to your estate yet."

Both were at ease and in high spirits. Their world had changed since yesterday.

...

Prince Redmir Axel’s ducal residence was in the Val-de-Vas District, specifically on Second Avenue. The capital of Fars Empire, Strasbourg, had its heart in Val-de-Vas, and the district's centerpiece was its nine grand avenues.

The Bretagne family’s estate on Sixth Avenue was already considered opulent, but Prince Redmir Axel’s residence surpassed it. Located at No. 3 Second Avenue, it was second only to the First Avenue, which was exclusively the imperial palace.

The estate had undergone minor renovations. Since Annie Bretagne shared the Axel bloodline, not all the Axel family emblems and insignias had been removed. Instead, many prominent locations featured the Bretagne family’s silver serpent motif.

All the original staff of the estate had been dismissed and replaced entirely with members of the Bretagne family. From Grandma Saint Karen, who served as the chief steward, to the guards and servants, they were all familiar faces from Annie’s childhood.

Charlot found himself more relaxed in Annie Bretagne's ducal residence than in either the Bretagne family’s earl estate or the imperial palace. Smiling softly, he spoke tenderly to Annie as she gave him a tour of the estate.

Since they weren’t yet married, Annie had specially arranged a room for Charlot within the residence. Every detail of the furnishings had been overseen by Annie herself.

Accompanying Annie on a tour of the estate, Charlot couldn't help but admire the architectural craftsmanship of this world. The ducal residence rivaled the famous palaces of Earth, though its collection of art was far inferior. In this extraordinary world, even nobles prioritized alchemical artifacts over purely aesthetic items. Any object resembling art was likely imbued with extraordinary properties.

Noticing Charlot’s apparent delight, Annie said, "The neighboring estate used to belong to another prince who has now declared opposition to my father’s ascension. I’ll persuade him to gift that property, and I’ll have the walls between them demolished. This way, our estates will be connected."

Charlot nodded slightly. For someone who had grown accustomed to Earth’s modest living spaces, the grandeur of these palatial residences held little allure. Even the scale of 58 Elysée Avenue had once seemed extravagant to him.

...

As they chatted, a servant suddenly reported that the Earl of Bretagne had arrived.

Charlot hesitated briefly before remembering that the current Earl of Bretagne was now Antonio.

Annie joyfully pulled Charlot along to greet Antonio, who strode in and chided, "Annie, why move so hastily? I haven’t even prepared everything yet. I’ll have people deliver the rest over the next few days."

Annie smiled. "This was a prince’s residence. It has everything we need. Just send over my daily necessities."

Antonio had plenty to discuss with Charlot. He said, "In three days at most, we’ll depart. But this time, you’ll command an independent force, marching from the Mecklenburg territory to strike deep into Black Phoenix's heartland."

"I’ll accompany Father in leading a frontal assault against Black Phoenix!"
