Chapter 384: What Should I Do After Accidentally Conquering a Nation? Urgent Advice Needed!
Added 2025-04-15 15:04:00 +0000 UTCThe curse of all transmigrators: overexcitement!
After Charlot Mecklenburg unified Moldova, the thrill of victory faded, and he calmed down. Upon reflection, even he couldn’t understand how he had acted so impulsively.
And how, exactly, had he actually conquered Moldova in the first place?
If he had a system like other transmigrators, he would undoubtedly have posted a question immediately:
“What should I do after accidentally conquering a country? Online now, urgent, urgent, URGENT…”
Oh, and the system must include a social feature for situations like this!
Charlot stood atop the walls of Liguria City, Moldova’s capital, gazing at the distant delegation approaching in a long, winding column. Turning to the three Saint-ranked figures beside him, he asked,
“I’m planning to accompany Annie to the Lionheart Empire. Which one of you will stay here to govern Moldova?”
The three Saint-ranked individuals under Charlot’s command weren’t just powerful; they were also remarkably capable.
Herolf, the Golden Ram, commanded vast forces from his base on Saint Michael Island, making him one of the top ten pirates.
Choudrou, the Silverback Gorilla, had been the second-in-command of the Southern Orc Tribes. Known for his tactical brilliance, he had resisted even the mighty Lion King Amisfida before succumbing to treachery.
The elderly lizardman was a master of cunning and strategy, unmatched in both the human and orc realms when it came to political intrigue.
Each of them was capable of governing Moldova effectively.
Herolf, worried that someone else might take his business opportunities, eagerly stepped forward and declared, “I volunteer to stay in Moldova!”
Charlot nodded. “Then Choudrou will remain here. You and the Black Dragon will accompany me to the Lionheart Empire.”
Herolf was so furious he nearly exploded on the spot!
Charlot, however, offered no explanation for his decision. Gathering a massive entourage, he descended from the city walls and left Liguria City to greet Princess Axo Axel and her party.
Princess Axo Axel, High Priest Auguslatin, and Annie all had complicated feelings upon meeting Charlot. Originally, they had expected a routine diplomatic stopover in Moldova before entering the Lionheart Empire. Who could have predicted that Moldova would vanish overnight?
The situation was profoundly awkward.
Charlot, however, remained composed. Leaning close to Princess Axo Axel, he quietly said, “If Arsen Lupin needs any supplies in the future, feel free to collect them from Liguria City—it’ll be much more convenient this way.”
Princess Axo Axel hesitated before replying, “If I didn’t already know that Zimmermann was dead, I’d almost think I was seeing the return of that troublesome son!”
“Even I can’t resolve this situation!” she continued. “I can represent the Fars Empire in recognizing Annie’s rule over Moldova, but my father will undoubtedly overturn this decision. At most, I can buy you a few extra months.”
“The other nations on the continent will definitely not acknowledge this occupation!”
“You’ll have to figure out what to do next on your own—I’m out of options.”
Charlot broke into a nervous sweat under her sharp remarks, muttering under his breath, “If it comes to that, I can always give it back to the Moldovans…”
Herolf grumbled nearby, “Impossible! Didn’t you tell me to eliminate all of the Grand Duke’s relatives?”
“I never gave such an order!” Charlot protested vehemently.
Herolf grinned mischievously, saying nothing more. But the blame had already been firmly placed on Charlot.
Princess Axo Axel had anticipated challenges in the Lionheart Empire, expecting to engage in a battle of wits against the Byron people. She never imagined that the chaos would begin here in Moldova.
She had thought her son Zimmermann was the epitome of troublemaking youth, but Charlot managed to surpass even that!
Sighing deeply, the princess resolved to abandon this mess. Even if her own son had caused such a debacle, she would have thrown up her hands in surrender, let alone this outsider who wasn’t even married to Annie yet.
Exhausted, she entered Liguria City with her aides. Determined to leave for the Lionheart Empire the next day, she decided she would never concern herself with Moldova’s problems again.
While hosting the delegation in Liguria City, Charlot was far from idle. He had already sent out numerous official documents to 32 nations on the Old Continent, announcing the new ruler of Moldova.
He had no idea how this would all turn out. Would the other nations recognize the new Moldova? Even the Serpent of Fate wouldn’t know the answer.
...
The next morning, when the delegation set off, Charlot left Choudrou behind to manage Moldova. He traveled with the Black Dragon and Herolf alongside the diplomatic party, traversing Moldova for several days before entering the Lionheart Empire.
At the border of the Lionheart Empire, Charlot spotted a knightly regiment. Uneasy, he wondered whether the empire would interfere in Moldova’s “internal affairs” and push both himself and Annie off the political stage.
Soon, he recognized a familiar face: Konro, the Lionheart Emperor Baldwin Asa’s special envoy. Konro had previously delivered their citizenship and administrative appointments for the Lionheart Empire.
Konro greeted Charlot with a faint smile and spoke a few words to a young man at his side. The young man then rode out from the regiment, smiling brightly. “Princess Axo Axel, may I have a private word with Sir Mecklenburg?”
Princess Axo Axel replied indifferently, “Granted.”
The young man produced a document and declared, “As the Crown Prince of the Lionheart Empire, I formally present this royal edict to the new ruler of Moldova, Duchess Annie Brittany.”
“Our nation recognizes Duchess Annie Brittany’s legitimate rule over Moldova and sincerely hopes for friendly relations between our two nations!”
Charlot was utterly dumbfounded. His first reaction was: “You’re the Crown Prince!?”
Konro smiled slightly and confirmed, “Indeed. This is His Royal Highness, Crown Prince Brunel Asa.”
In disbelief, Charlot whispered, “They’re recognizing us just like that?”
Konro’s smile deepened. “Duchess Annie Brittany lawfully obtained sovereignty over Moldova. Why wouldn’t the Lionheart Empire acknowledge it?
“We are also delighted to have such a friendly and cooperative neighbor along our border.”
“Sir Charlot Mecklenburg,” Konro added, “I trust you will not refuse the goodwill of our empire?”
Charlot responded decisively, “Moldova has always cherished its deep friendship with the Lionheart Empire—a bond as unshakable as stone!”
