Cultivation Begins from Infancy - Chapter 399

Volume 3 - Chapter 104: Millions May Stand in My Way, Yet I Press Forward - Instant Kill Streak - Part 2

No one dared to act rashly. The disparity was simply too great. At this moment, they were like livestock in a slaughterhouse. Those who had attacked in rage earlier hadn’t even been able to get close before perishing.

“I heard you have a particularly extraordinary young talent here. Why hasn’t he shown up yet? Could it be that he knows better than to involve himself and has simply abandoned you all?”

Another youth wearing a half-mask asked with great interest.

The expressions of the crowd in the plaza shifted slightly. They immediately realized who he was referring to.

Not long ago, General Haotian had slain the Boundless Buddhist Lord, earning him worldwide renown. Apart from Qin Zhenren, he was currently the strongest figure in the Great Yu Divine Dynasty.

However, he had not arrived.

Yet, there was no resentment in their hearts.

Only despair.

Even Qin Zhenren had been defeated. What difference would it make if that general came? He would only end up suffering the same humiliation and awaiting death alongside them.

At least Hao’er wasn’t here… Li Muxiu stood among the crowd and quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

Despite possessing the power of a half-step invincible fist, all he could do now was clench his fists weakly. Before these six young men and women, they were no different from moths flying into a flame.

Whether they were at the Absolute Technique Stage or the Supreme Dao Realm, none of it mattered against the terrifying power of "Manifesting Dao with Words" wielded by their enemies.

No matter how furious or desperate they became, they couldn’t harm their opponents in the slightest.

Still, despite the dire straits before him, Li Muxiu felt a glimmer of relief upon noticing that Li Hao was absent. He knew that even if all of them, the older generation, perished here, there would still be hope for the future.

Because of this, even when others had lashed out in anguish, he had remained calm.

In secret, he had transmitted messages to familiar acquaintances, urging them not to act recklessly.

As long as they survived, even humiliation was bearable.

Living was the most important thing.

“Tiangang, don’t be impulsive. As long as Hao’er doesn’t come, even if the dynasty falls, given enough time, he will surely avenge us in the future!”

Li Muxiu transmitted his thoughts.

Beside him, Li Tiangang and Li Fenghua were also present. When they received the Eight Banners of Aid from the imperial capital, they had immediately set out from Qingzhou.

The Eight Banners from the imperial capital were an urgent call that no one dared to ignore—they meant the world was facing a monumental crisis.

“I understand. I’m not a reckless brute,” Li Tiangang replied via sound transmission, though his gaze was complicated. The desperate situation before him was beyond anything he had imagined. What shocked him even more was that at such a critical juncture for the Great Yu Divine Dynasty, their hope now rested entirely on that child.

“Let’s continue our game, shall we?”

“There are imperial princes and princesses here, along with all these old reinforcements. Quite a decent number—over eighty.”

“But you’ll have to endure eighty attacks from us before you can die.”

High in the air, a woman with an enchanting smile uttered words that dripped with malice.

As she spoke, she raised a hand toward Qin Zhenren, sending forth a terrifying purple aura that tore through his back, cutting deep into his flesh, exposing bone.

...

...

In Yunzhou, at the Divine General Mansion of the Wang family, the hollowed-out mountainside was bustling with people. Many among them were young members of the Wang family’s next generation.

Compared to the distant crisis at the imperial capital, their attention was focused on the River of Death before them. They were anxiously awaiting the return of Chong Er.

The situation in the imperial capital was being handled by the family elders, who were busy deploying troops, strategizing, and sending reinforcements. All the younger members could do was wait for news.

Before the Ksitigarbha Buddha, someone repeatedly checked their golden River of Death list, flipping to the merit rankings. Each time they saw the name “Chong Er” still at the top, they would breathe a quiet sigh of relief.

In the grand hall within the mountain, hushed discussions continued. Many were still in shock over the revelation that Li Hao was Chong Er.

This revelation was earth-shattering. To the younger generation of the Wang family, Li Hao’s identity as a general had been a source of curiosity and admiration, but nothing more. However, Chong Er’s feats had left the entire Wang family astounded and in awe.

He had accomplished something the Wang family had not managed to achieve in hundreds of years, overshadowing even their most illustrious ancestors.

Even Wang Zhendong, who was the most revered figure in their hearts, paled in comparison to this name.

“Miss, General Haotian is actually Chong Er! His Majesty said this feat alone is worthy of being granted the title of Divine General!”

In the crowd, a young maid exclaimed to the woman beside her.

Earlier, they had been speculating about Chong Er’s identity, guessing he might be some reclusive master from the martial world. Never did they imagine that it was the young general who had recently taken the world by storm.

“Yes...”

The woman’s eyes shone with a peculiar light. Remembering the moment she had seen the young man earlier, her cheeks flushed slightly.

“He’s still alive and hasn’t come out yet. Could it be that even a Hell-level River of Death cannot overcome him?”

“By now, those two Rivers of Death must have merged, right?”

The young men and women in the hall discussed this with amazement and curiosity. Above all, they were filled with envy. The young man’s brilliance was overwhelming. Any one of his achievements would be enough to earn them high office and fame throughout the land.

As they whispered, a sudden golden light appeared before the Ksitigarbha Buddha.

The conversations ceased abruptly as all eyes turned toward the light.

The void seemed to ripple slightly, and a figure stepped out, revealing himself.

It was Li Hao.

Having completed the River of Death trial, he had chatted briefly with Feng Lao. The elder, who had much to say after their short parting at the Great Wilderness Heaven, finally left reluctantly as the Fengshan River of Death dissipated, much like the first time Li Hao had cleared the Fengshan River of Death.

Unlike Ji Yunge, who had returned with him from the Longcheng River of Death, Feng Lao’s obsession had faded entirely, allowing him to pass on in peace.

Li Hao didn’t dwell on it. He quickly left the River of Death.

Now, as he stepped outside, he was immediately greeted by countless gazes.

“General Haotian!”

A senior Wang family member who had previously accompanied Li Hao into the River of Death was among those waiting. Upon seeing Li Hao appear, he exclaimed in excitement and relief.

“Thank goodness you’re alive!”

Li Hao was speechless. Though he could understand their emotions, the phrasing made him feel somewhat awkward.

“I’m not a corpse coming back to life.”

“Where are they?”

Li Hao glanced around but didn’t see Wang Yongzhi or Wang Zhendong, which surprised him.

“The patriarch is in the council hall. I’ll inform him immediately.”

The man’s spirit shot out of his body and disappeared in a flash.

The younger generation, standing nearby, stared at Li Hao with a mix of awe and trepidation. Although thrilled to see him, they dared not approach. His illustrious feats, even though he was of similar age, made him seem unattainable—a figure as distant as heaven itself.

Before long, Wang Yongzhi arrived, running in with great haste.

When he saw Li Hao unharmed, he was overwhelmed with emotion and quickly rushed over.

“General Haotian, it’s such a relief that you’re safe! My Wang family owes you so much—if something had happened to you, we wouldn’t know how to repay your kindness.”

“Patriarch, there’s no need to be so formal. You’ve helped me greatly as well, especially in locating Feng Lao,” Li Hao replied with a smile.

“That was our duty; it’s not even worth mentioning.”

Wang Yongzhi shook his head with a wry smile, his expression quickly turning solemn. With a wave of his hand, he released a soundproof barrier and spoke gravely to Li Hao.

“General Haotian, we’ve just received an Eight Banners transmission. His Majesty has instructed me to tell you to leave the Great Yu Divine Dynasty immediately. Do not return unless you’ve reached the Dao Law Realm.”

“Hm?”

Li Hao froze, the sudden message catching him off guard.

“What happened?”

Seeing Wang Yongzhi’s serious demeanor, Li Hao realized the importance of the situation. Even those from the Wang family had been excluded from hearing this.

“The imperial capital was attacked,” Wang Yongzhi said, his voice heavy. “We initially received an aid request through the banners, stating that demons were attacking the imperial capital. But shortly after, another Eight Banners message arrived—this one carrying His Majesty’s command for you to leave Great Yu as soon as possible.”

Li Hao stood there, stunned. His pupils contracted slightly as he processed the information.

The imperial capital attacked?

First came a call for reinforcements, and then an order for him to leave immediately?

Such a stark reversal of orders—it didn’t take a genius to deduce that the situation had deteriorated catastrophically.

Li Hao looked at Wang Yongzhi. From the patriarch’s expression, he could tell they shared the same grim understanding.

No wonder Wang Yongzhi had taken such precautions. If this news spread, it could plunge the entire dynasty into chaos.

“When did this happen?” Li Hao asked immediately.

“Fifteen minutes ago,” Wang Yongzhi replied. “The report about the demon attack was abrupt. They had previously targeted Liangzhou and Qingzhou, likely as a diversion to draw Qin Zhenren away. But now, they’ve launched a direct assault on the imperial capital. They must have another trump card in hand and are pooling the power of all the demons.”

Li Hao took a deep breath, refraining from further questions. His figure blurred, vanishing from the mountain hall in an instant.

Wang Yongzhi froze for a moment, then quickly gave chase. By the time he caught up, Li Hao was already in the Wang family’s main hall, standing alongside the Candlefire God.

“General Haotian, where are you going?”

“Imperial capital.”

Before the words fully left his lips, Li Hao and the Candlefire God had already teleported, disappearing from the Wang family’s Divine General Mansion.

Wang Yongzhi stood frozen, his expression shifting to shock and horror. He hurriedly dashed outside, but there was no trace of Li Hao, not even the residual traces of teleportation’s Dao Rhythms, making it impossible to track him.

He suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. Had he inadvertently caused a disaster? He had thought informing Li Hao of the situation would make him retreat in caution.

After all, life was precious.

The two conflicting transmissions—the call for reinforcements followed by the command for Li Hao to flee—were evidence enough that the imperial capital had likely fallen into enemy hands, and the crisis had escalated beyond control.

Wang Yongzhi could understand His Majesty’s reasoning. If the Great Yu Divine Dynasty truly faced an unprecedented catastrophe, then Li Hao might very well be the hope for its future.

Yet now, instead of fleeing, Li Hao had chosen to rush toward the imperial capital. Wasn’t this a clear path to his death?

His Majesty’s directive also implied that even Qin Zhenren might have fallen!

Wang Yongzhi stood there for a moment before regaining his composure. He quickly sought out Wang Zhenfeng, instructing him to head for the imperial capital to provide reinforcements.

At this point, leaving Wang Zhenfeng to defend Yunzhou was meaningless. If the nest fell, no egg could remain intact. Unless the Wang family betrayed the Yu Emperor and withdrew from Great Yu altogether...
