“Even the Orc Assassin Alliance has fallen apart!”
“The seven chiefs each took a group and left. I didn’t follow anyone and could only return to Strasbourg. You know, I went to university here. Apart from the southern continent, this is the place I’m most familiar with.”
Charlot was stunned and nearly blurted out, “Isn’t that the homeless leopard?”
However, his wit and tact were on point today, so instead, he said, “Why not return to the West Wind Knight Order?”
Frederica didn’t hesitate at all and replied, “Sure!”
Yet, after agreeing, Frederica seemed hesitant. Curious, Charlot asked, “What’s on your mind?”
Frederica turned her coffee cup and said, “Can I bring a group of people along?”
Charlot replied, “No problem!”
Her voice lowered slightly as she added, “There are quite a lot of them…”
Charlot asked with curiosity, “How many people are we talking about?”
Frederica hesitated before answering without raising her head, “All the Leopardmen.”
“Not five…”
Charlot broke into a radiant smile and said, “Fifty? Five hundred? Or five thousand?”
Frederica responded, “A little more—just under five hundred thousand.”
Charlot was instantly taken aback. “Did you just say all the Leopardmen?”
At first, he thought it was a small Leopardman tribe, maybe a few hundred people. But now he realized—this wasn’t a small tribe but all the Leopardmen tribes combined! Naturally, there had to be nearly half a million of them!
Frederica didn’t dare meet his eyes and muttered, “I didn’t want to take on such a hot potato either!”
“But all the elders of the Leopardmen have died in battle, and the stronger warriors were all taken away by Tumisan. Now, the 186 Leopardman tribes, with nearly 500,000 people, are all weighing on my shoulders. I’ve been so stressed lately that I need five cups of coffee daily to keep my headaches in check.”
“What’s infuriating is that apart from the Val-de-Vas district, you can’t buy coffee anywhere else. I have to make a trip every single day.”
Frederica didn’t think Charlot could solve her problem, so she kept muttering under her breath. It was evident that the Leopardman girl was under immense pressure.
Charlot hesitated for a long time before saying, “I can take in the Leopardmen, but there are three conditions.”
Frederica was shocked. “You can take in so many Leopardmen? How will you manage that? Don’t tell me you plan to sell them as slaves, or I’ll flip out!”
Charlot replied calmly, “I currently control about thirteen cities, with two more in Ingrima. By distributing the Leopardmen across these cities, they should be able to integrate—barely.”
Frederica was greatly surprised and asked, “You’re already that powerful?”
Having worked with Charlot before, she didn’t doubt his words. After all, she had witnessed the early days of his rise. While claiming to control thirteen cities sounded slightly exaggerated, it wasn’t entirely impossible.
Frederica asked, “What are the three conditions?”
Charlot raised one finger and said, “They must learn Farsian or Ingriman!”
Frederica nodded. “That’s doable. If they’re going to live among humans, that’s a necessary skill. Actually, most Orcs know a bit of Farsian, so don’t underestimate their ability to learn.”
Charlot raised a second finger. “Every Leopardman must learn the Beast God Transformation technique to acquire the ability to transform into a human. I know it’s unrealistic for everyone to reach the first transcendent rank, so just some progress will suffice.”
Frederica was surprised. “How do you know about the Beast God Transformation technique? That’s a closely guarded secret of the Orc Assassin Alliance!”
Charlot shrugged. “Can you do it or not?”
Frederica hesitated for a long time before replying, “It’s an odd condition, but I’ll try.”
Charlot raised a third finger. “I can’t do anything about past events, but the Orcs I take in must abstain from cannibalism!”
Frederica stared at Charlot for a while before asking, “Are you aware that humans occasionally eat Orcs too?”
Charlot answered, “I’ll enforce the no-cannibalism rule among my subordinates, and Orcs won’t be allowed to eat humans either!”
Frederica was silent for a moment before asking, “Have you met Septimius?”
Charlot smiled brightly. “No, but I’ve met Tumisan.”
At the mention of Tumisan, Frederica’s anger flared up. “That guy is unworthy of being the Leopard God! He abandoned all the Leopardmen and fled. If I ever reach the Saint rank, I’ll make sure to teach him a lesson.”
Charlot smiled. “You’ll see him soon enough.”
Frederica was surprised. “You’re with him?”
The phrasing was somewhat ambiguous, prompting Charlot to hastily explain, “He went to join Menielman!”
Frederica simply said, “Oh,” without much surprise. “Tumisan was always one of Zimourman’s subordinates. It’s no shock that he’d seek out his fiancée.”
Charlot smiled slightly. “Do you want to meet him?”
Frederica replied, “No.”
Charlot didn’t pursue the topic further. “Tonight, meet me at 58 Elysée Avenue. We’ll discuss the details. I’ve got a personal matter to attend to now.”
Frederica set down her coffee and said, “Alright.”
Before leaving, Charlot asked one last question with curiosity. “You didn’t bring all the Leopardmen to Strasbourg, did you?”
Frederica replied, “Of course not!”
Charlot, eager to meet Annie, said, “We’ll talk later!” He quickly paid for their coffee and left. Watching him go, Frederica felt some of the weight on her shoulders lift.
When Charlot met Annie, the newly appointed official of the Enforcement Division was busy handling paperwork.
Annie was overjoyed to see Charlot. She dropped her files and rushed out, laughing and chatting with him as they left together.
Annie had made quite an impression at the Enforcement Division today. After asserting her authority, her transition into the role went smoothly, and no one dared trouble the newcomer.
Meanwhile, Alence Cook anxiously waited outside Sheffield University. Without a permit, he couldn’t enter the campus.
Suddenly, his face lit up as he hurried forward and called out, “Sophia, it’s me, Alence Cook!”
Sophia Gallanord vaguely remembered him but couldn’t understand why this man had suddenly come to find her at the university.
She asked coldly, “What do you want?”
Alence Cook lowered his voice and said, “I’ve been framed and am being forced to leave Strasbourg for the front lines. Before I go, I must expose a despicable man to you.”
“Charlot Mecklenburg is secretly involved with the daughter of the Bretagne family. He’s deceiving you and trying to play both sides…”
Sophia Gallanord’s expression suddenly became much more pleasant.
