Chapter 297: Candidate for the Evil God

Tumisan was elated after acquiring Daohai.
The Orc Assassin Alliance was quite profitable, and the old leopard-man's wealth was substantial. However, extraordinary weapons like this were largely dependent on luck. Tumisan had traveled across the New Continent and the Old Continent, visiting countless places, yet he had never come across a weapon that suited him.

As a member of the leopard-man race, Tumisan possessed unparalleled speed but lacked strength. With Daohai, he could compensate for this weakness and elevate his combat prowess to the next level.

After completing the transaction, Tumisan dove into the deep sea to familiarize himself with his newly acquired weapon.

Charlot Mecklenburg also secured a ship and prepared to study the Agmirlas Labyrinth he had obtained, as well as the ancient paintings depicting the true visage of the Labyrinth God. Initially, he had planned to ask Menielman for assistance. After all, the only method he knew to absorb these ancient paintings was to destroy them and let his Diary handle the rest.

However, Sabastine came aboard for a visit. Noticing Charlot spreading out two copies of Agmirlas Labyrinth and a dozen ancient paintings, she couldn’t help but ask, “What kind of labyrinth transformation are you attempting here? We’re on a ship surrounded by the vast ocean, with no city nearby to transform into a labyrinth.”

Charlot smiled faintly and replied, “I want to conduct an experiment, but I need a Saint-level guardian. Would you mind lending me a hand, Sabastine?”

Initially, he had intended to seek out Menielman, but with Sabastine, a Saint-level pirate, conveniently showing up, how could he not make use of her?

Sabastine had sought Charlot out for a different reason. She had always found him intriguing and wanted to strengthen their relationship. It seemed helping him wasn’t a bad idea.

Smiling, she said, “I can help! But when we visit Strasbourg, you’ll have to treat me to a meal.”

Charlot beamed and responded, “Not a problem at all.”

“I want to test whether the power of the Labyrinth God can achieve something else. It might get dangerous, so if it does, be ready to save me.”

Sabastine sat cross-legged, drew her rapier, and set it beside her. With a smile, she assured him, “No problem at all.”

With her reassurance, Charlot felt confident. He picked up the nine-page Agmirlas Labyrinth, tore out three pages, and pressed them against his forehead.

Sabastine was slightly surprised and thought to herself, "The Agmirlas Labyrinth isn’t rare in the New Continent, but I’ve only ever heard of it being used to labyrinthify a city. What is Charlot trying to do?"

Charlot, recalling Tumisan’s words, wasn’t thinking about labyrinthifying a city. Instead, he wanted to see if it could enhance his Infinite Mirror World.

As the three pages of the Agmirlas Labyrinth touched his forehead, Charlot indeed felt a sinister power invading his body. He activated Blood Glory, merging it with the new power. Countless silver runes emerged, forming a third mirror.

Before he could fully comprehend his newly acquired ability, an all-too-familiar sensation struck him.

Charlot faintly sensed a labyrinth passage opening. At its end, an unsettling aura loomed, accompanied by the faint growls of monsters. The rampaging power of the Labyrinth God was separated from the world by a flimsy barrier, ready to burst through.

Without hesitation, Charlot tore off three more pages from the Agmirlas Labyrinth, but nothing happened. He tore off another two, still no response. Frustrated, he pressed the last page to his forehead, but still, there was no reaction.

Gritting his teeth, he took the sixteen-page copy of Agmirlas Labyrinth and pressed all its pages to his forehead.

This time, four pages disappeared, and the Labyrinth God’s power broke through the barriers of time and space, surging into Charlot’s body. Countless silver runes appeared once more, forming a fourth mirror within the Blood Glory vortex in his eyes.

As this fourth mirror took shape, Charlot sensed the birth of a new ability—Mirror Palace!

This new ability allowed him to conjure four magical mirrors and create a small labyrinth, albeit with limited range. It could, at most, encompass a building the size of 58 Elysée Avenue, but it had the advantage of instant formation, providing the perfect battlefield.

Harnessing the power of the Mirror Palace, Charlot roared and activated Infinite Mirror World, forcibly halting the infusion of the Labyrinth God’s power and shutting the mysterious passage.

Charlot even heard the angry roars of the Labyrinth God from the other side. Just a little more, and Agmirlas might have materialized in Saint Michael Island.

Beads of cold sweat covered Charlot’s forehead. The situation had been dangerously close.

Charlot hadn’t realized how perilous this endeavor would be. He had assumed Sabastine would at least be able to rescue him if things went awry.

With the passage closed, Charlot no longer heard Agmirlas’ roars, but he noticed the twelve remaining pages of Agmirlas Labyrinth had also vanished. His diary grew warm, transmitting a thought:

Charlot Mecklenburg has forcibly closed the passage to the true Agmirlas Labyrinth, severing ties with the Labyrinth God Agmirlas and officially becoming a candidate for an Evil God.
To proceed, you must create and master ninety-nine labyrinths and travel to the Aggras Sea to challenge Agmirlas. Failure to complete ninety-nine labyrinths within the allotted time will result in your soul being devoured by Agmirlas Labyrinth. Failure to challenge Agmirlas will lead to forced entry into the Evil God Arena.
Countdown: 133 days, 2 hours, 9 minutes, and 17 seconds.

“Candidate for an Evil God?”

“How did I end up as a candidate for an Evil God?”

“What exactly did Tumisan teach me?”

“Sure, I closed the passage to the true Agmirlas Labyrinth, but this result…”

“Doesn’t seem like a great deal!”

For a brief moment, Charlot considered confronting Tumisan, but realizing he was now an Evil God candidate, he decided against it. This enormous secret could not be revealed. If it became known, followers of the Nine Orthodox Gods would see him as an enemy.

Charlot would no longer have a place in the Four Great Empires unless he went to Byron, the land of the vampires who didn’t worship the Orthodox Gods.

However, Charlot was quite comfortable in Fars and Ingrima and had no desire to go to Byron. Moreover, a practitioner of Blood Glory entering the vampire domain would essentially be courting death.

Charlot retrieved his diary and flipped to the Agmirlas Labyrinth section, noticing it had gained twelve more pages.

For now, Charlot decided not to tempt fate. He stored the remaining ancient paintings and thanked Sabastine.

Sabastine seemed puzzled. “You haven’t done anything yet!”

“What did you feel just now?” Charlot asked.

Sabastine hesitated before replying softly, “It’s a bit odd. Thinking back, it feels like you pressed the two copies of Agmirlas Labyrinth against your forehead and disappeared for a moment…”

“But it’s like something interrupted my memory. I can’t recall that moment clearly.”

“What on earth were you doing?”

“The Agmirlas Labyrinth isn’t supposed to be this sinister.”

Charlot shrugged. “I have no idea. You know I’ve chosen Blood Glory. Once, I used Agmirlas Labyrinth to practice and accidentally unlocked a new Blood Glory vortex, acquiring the Van Gogh Clan inheritance.”

Sabastine was shocked. “So that’s how you gained Infinite Mirror World? I mentioned it to Menielman, and she told me not to ask.”

“I thought you had some dealings with Byron.”

Charlot smiled wryly, thinking to himself, "Well, that’s partially true. I learned the Arthur Clan scroll from Baron Leo and the Arsilo Family’s secret techniques from Julian, but I have no ties to the Van Gogh Clan."

Such matters were among Charlot’s deepest secrets. He hadn’t even told Annie, much less Sabastine.
